If there’s one family that’s instantly recognized in the world thanks to their surname, it’s undoubtedly the Trumps. After all, entrepreneur and businessman turned U.S. president Donald Trump is globally recognized, albeit controversial.
So his daughter Ivanka Trump probably thought that her father’s surname was too risky to have now. As a result, she changed her last name. Many social media users have had a soft spot for Ivanka Trump for a long time.
Numerous claimed she was going through the motions during her father’s presidency and didn’t want to be there. Now, several people claim that Ivanka Trump has changed her surname to Kushner as a part of a social media makeover or image rebranding to distance herself from her father, who has been embroiled in various legal battles and could go to prison. But is this true?
Ivanka Trump didn’t take her husband Jared Kushner’s last name. The viral rumor seemingly originated from a May 27 Business Insider article titled “Call Her Ivanka Kushner.”
However, the report confirms that even though it looks like former U.S. President Donald Trump’s eldest daughter is distancing herself from her father’s name after he got embroiled in a massive lawsuit, she still has the Trump name.
Did Ivanka Trump Change Her Last Name to Kushner?
Online social media users claimed that Ivanka Trump changed her last name to Kushner after her husband, Jared Kushner. The daughter of former U.S. President Donald Trump is said to have rebranded her online image and distanced herself from her father, who has been indicted on major charges, 37 to be exact, by Special Counsel Jack Smith.
After leaving office, he has been accused of illegally keeping classified documents in his residence. The charges include espionage and obstruction of justice. Donald Trump has denied the accusations and insisted that he’s innocent.
The frontrunner Republican candidate for the 2024 elections has also been indicted in a civil case related to paying hush money to Stormy Daniels, a pornographic actress.
The former president is also being investigated for his involvement in trying to overturn the 2020 presidential election results and being involved during the January 6, 2021, Capitol riots. Due to these seemingly unending legal issues, there have been viral rumors about Ivanka Trump, Donald Trump’s eldest daughter, trying to distance herself from the Trump legacy.
It does look like Ivanka is trying to rebrand her image. After all, she stayed silent during her father’s newest indictment and previously appeared on the House Select Committee to testify regarding the Capitol riots. What also raised eyebrows was her absence from the patriarch’s 2024 re-election bid announcement in November.
Newsweek reported that Ivanka dismissed the lawyers representing her siblings and instead hired her legal team to deal with the fraud case worth $250 million. The charges were brought by New York State Attorney General Letitia James against the Trump Organization. Also, pictures from the bat mitzvah ceremony of Ivanka Trump’s daughter have added fuel to the fire, where Donald is nowhere to be seen.
So does this mean Ivanka Trump has cut out the Trump name and instead taken on her husband Jared Kushner’s last name? No. That’s not true. In fact, this is a viral misinformation. It’s assumed that this rumor originated from a Business Insider article titled “Call Her Ivanka Kushner,” published on May 27. However, even the report stated that Ivanka hadn’t changed her name. The outlet wrote:
“She hasn’t changed her name, but Ivanka Trump’s image has undergone a major makeover in recent years, as she has slowly separated herself from her father’s brand,”
So it’s just a sensationalist headline that has spread like wildfire and is believed to be accurate. Also, even though it looks like Ivanka is trying to slowly bring her name out of the mess surrounding her father, it’s not true.
After all, even though Donald didn’t attend his granddaughter’s bat mitzvah, he did host a dinner at his Mar-a-Lago estate, the pics of which were shared by Ivanka.
So what are your thoughts on this viral rumor about Ivanka Trump?
Do you think she can change her name in the future if things go further downhill with Donald Trump? Or will she stick with her family through thick and thin?
