Elon Musk’s Outlandish $1 Billion Proposal Wants Wikipedia To Rebrand Into This Silly Name

Elon Musk, the self-proclaimed "genius, pioneer, tech-preneur, world-changer, pro-wrestler," and a billionaire, proposes the most mind-numbingly whacky deal of the century.

Imagine you are a billionaire… how would you diversify your wealth? Will you take the philanthropic route? Will you invest and encourage young entrepreneurs? Will you solve world issues? Or will you make dim-witted financial decisions just because you can?

Well, let’s see if the ‘Musk’eteer has an answer for us. In today’s case of things only Musk can do, we have yet another bizarre business deal.

On October 22, 2023, Elon Musk posted on his X account that he would be offering Wikipedia $1 Billion to change its name to “Dickipedia” for a period of one year. While most netizens took it as a joke, others pointed out the bare minimum expectations of billionaires to contribute to society seem to have dissipated entirely.

In another tweet, Musk also raised the question as to why Wikipedia needed donations to keep its website running. Jimmy Wales, the founder of the most extensive digital information library, Wikipedia, is yet to respond to Musk’s deal.

Elon Musk’s Outlandish $1 Billion Proposal

The billion-dollar deal sent shockwaves across X as netizens couldn’t fathom the possibility that a billionaire would ever expose the extravagant behavior of the elites. But then Elon Musk has always been an enigmatic billionaire who claims to be the people’s person. Although he could be best described as that wealthy friend who you don’t want to invite to your party, considering how outlandish their expectations could be.

Musk yet again proved that he is capable of buying anything he sets his eyes on.

When Elon Musk posted about his quid-pro-quo, it blew the normie mind, knowing that uber-rich people can give away billions of dollars just for a gag.

I will give them a billion dollars if they change their name to Dickipedia https://t.co/wxoHQdRICy

— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) October 22, 2023

When one user encouraged Wikipedia to take the deal, saying– “@Wikipedia, Do it! You can always change it back after you collect,” Musk responded, “One year minimum. I mean, I’m a not fool lol.”

Musk also posted a series of comments in which he questions the intentions of the Wikimedia Foundation asking for donations from the readers. He says–

“Have you ever wondered why the Wikimedia Foundation wants so much money?”

“It certainly isn’t needed to operate Wikipedia. You can literally fit a copy of the entire text on your phone! So, what’s the money for? Inquiring minds want to know..”

Apparently, Musk had harbored another beef with Jimmy Wales when the Wikipedia founder criticized the Tesla CEO for censoring critics of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan since Musk marketed Twitter version 2.0 as a free speech platform with 0 censorship. Pointing out this irony led to a sour relationship between Wales and Musk.

Netizens React To Elon Musk’s Proposal To Rebrand Wikipedia With A Silly Name

Elon Musk making fun of Wikipedia for asking for donations when he's constantly begging and trying to find new ways to force people to pay for Twitter is hilariously ironic. It's like everything this dumbass does is a projection of his own insecurities onto someone else.

Just donated to Wikipedia after noticing Elon Musk taking potshots at it. It's amongst best things the internet has to offer and one of the few websites that's not shitter than it was 10 years ago. Protect it.https://t.co/DFgC66gJpv

Elon Musk said he’ll give Wikipedia a billion dollars if they change their name to Dickipedia.

Or maybe he should give the UN $6 billion to end world hunger like he said he would.

Or maybe he won’t do any of that because he’s just a pathetic dumbass lying gaslighting troll.

Wikipedia isn't perfect but it's made a huge contribution to the sharing of free, accurate & reliable knowledge. A triumph of voluntary collaboration.

Elon Musk has turned Twitter/X into a machine that promotes toxic disinformation for cash.

Naturally, Musk despises Wikipedia. pic.twitter.com/kfEhiRz5M2

Wikipedia should accept Elon Musk's billion dollar offer rather than asking its users for a $2.75 donation 🤣 pic.twitter.com/WwFvjRQxyA

Elon Musk is almost done destroying Twitter, so now he wants to destroy Wikipedia.

This is what happens when a stupid greedy clueless lying cheating grifting tone-deaf psycho fascist narcissistic megalomaniacal loser has too much money.

Elon Musk, who's entire thing since he's taken over twitter has been to try and squeeze users out of every last dime asks why Wikipedia wants donations https://t.co/WyENOLBYFt

What are your thoughts on this bizarre deal? Do you think Wikipedia should take it? Is Elon Musk shading the Wikipedia founder?

From a little girl who wrote school plays and made her friends act in them to an adolescent who got into dark humor, Yashica has built her own universe of peculiar characters inspired by great cinema. She has imbibed the philosophies of David Fincher's characters but lives like the eccentricity of Phoebe Waller Bridge's women. Her metahumans are those who can use the power of words to create an elixir of emotions and bring them to life on screen. Jordan Peele, Issa Rae, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Ilana-Abbi, Raj-DK, Anurag Kashyap, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and others are her Marvel's Avengers. With over two years of experience as a content writer, her writing pieces are well-researched, with a sprinkle of her opinions/inferences that keep the audiences engaged. She is still exploring more on the anime scene but is highly intrigued by it. The cinephile in her makes her appreciate the intricacies of filmmaking. You will get a lot more insight into it in her articles and thoroughly enjoy her explanations. Well, someday, you might see Yashica as one of the writers for a movie-- it's her ultimate dream!
