Are you curious about the whereabouts of Kanye West’s latest album, “Vultures,” and its absence on Spotify? You’re not alone in the quest for answers.
In a whirlwind of anticipation, Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign unleashed their collaborative masterpiece on February 9, 2024, leaving fans buzzing with excitement.
However, as the clock ticked past midnight on February 10, conflicting reports surfaced regarding the album’s availability on different platforms.
So, what’s going on?
Kanye West’s ‘Vultures’ dropped on February 9, 2024, but it is not yet on Spotify. It’s possibly because of internal company debates on handling Kanye’s anti-semitic controversial statements. The issue is probably about choosing to highlight his artistry versus personal conduct.
Has Kanye West Released Vultures? Why Isn’t It Released on Spotify?
Kanye West released ‘Vultures’ on February 9, 2024, but its absence on Spotify remains a mystery.
Despite assurances of its arrival on Digital Service Providers (DSP) within 24-48 hours, ‘Vultures’ chose an Apple Music debut, sidelining Spotify listeners in the process.
This puzzling move has left fans wondering why the album opted for an exclusive rendezvous with Apple Music while snubbing Spotify’s eager embrace.
In the intricate dance of release dates and anticipated drops, ‘Vultures’ finally found its way onto TIDAL after a series of delays and twists. However, the album’s refusal to grace Spotify may stem from a myriad of factors.
As per Billboard, according to a former Spotify employee, internal debates likely brew over how to handle Kanye West’s controversial statements and whether to prioritize playlisting based on his artistic merit or personal conduct.
The former employee said:
“It’s going to be complicated. There’s going to be a difference of opinion within places on how to handle it. Some people in leadership positions will want to be harsh on Kanye for the nasty antisemitic things he has said.”
But the ex-Spotify employee also said that there’s another side to the coin:
“There will also be another side, the hip-hop teams, who will say, ‘No, it’s Kanye, people say crazy shit all the time, plus he apologized. We don’t care. We’re playlisting because it’s Kanye.’”
Despite its anticipated debut, ‘Vultures’ faced a tepid reception on streaming platforms. But as per Billboard, “Vultures” found a more favorable reception on the airwaves.
Around 30 stations have aired the song. Notably, two stations in Kanye West’s hometown of Chicago, WPWX and WGCI, played it extensively, with 199 and 181 spins, respectively, in 2024.
Similarly, KVEG in Las Vegas aired the song 50 times, indicating its growing popularity on radio.
But, this could work in Ye’s favor.
After all, if the music sparks widespread enthusiasm and chatter among listeners, its popularity will naturally influence streaming services.
However, “Vultures” has yet to ignite such fervor. According to a digital marketer, the absence of widespread buzz suggests a lack of organic momentum driving the song’s success.
Kanye West plans to unveil his latest album, ‘Vultures,’ in three volumes. It now remains to be seen when/ if Spotify brings the song to its catalogs.
Will ‘Vultures’ eventually make its way onto Spotify, or is its Apple Music exclusivity here to stay?
