Open-world games mean unlimited exploration and going on adventures. Diablo 4 is similar. The sanctuary is vast and full of surprises, the praises of which have been sung on social media platforms. However, it’s time-consuming to traverse the whole map without a mount.
Also, having a horse means you can get to doing what you love the most- killing as many enemies as possible. Thankfully, Diablo 4 gives all classes the ability to get a mount. But getting a horse isn’t a piece of cake. Players need to clear the prologue and slog through three levels at least to get a companion who will make the journey easy and fast.
To get a mount in Diablo 4, complete Act 3 and make sure your level is 36 at least. After that, go to Kyovashad city and talk to the stable master Oskar. It will trigger the quest ‘Mount: Donans Favor.’ Once you complete this, you will get your first horse for free, and you can customize and armor it too.
How to Get a Horse in Diablo 4?
The first step in getting a horse is completing the game’s prologue. Once the game’s large world opens, head to the city of Kyovashad. This will trigger the first three acts of Diablo 4.
Note that you can complete these acts in whichever order you want. But to get a horse, you will have to play through Act 3. At Kyovashad, you will see plenty of amenities, and one of them is a horse stable. But getting a horse isn’t that easy. To get the animal, complete ‘Mount: Donans Favor.’
But you can only unlock this quest once you have reached level 36. Also, when you go to the stable in Kyovashad, talk to Oskar, the stable master.
Talking to him will trigger the quest. After finishing the mount quest, you will get the first mount for free. Next, if you want to buy a horse, be ready to cough up 20,000 gold.
Are Horses Customizable in Diablo 4?
Along with your character, you can customize your horse in Diablo 4 too, and it’s not limited to just cosmetic upgrades. If you complete the in-game events, puzzles, and tackle World Bosses, you can even unlock equipment to improve your mount’s stats.
For example, You can get better armor to make your horse stronger. It will make your horse the second most important thing after your character. Also, you can get various kinds of mounts in the game. For example, there’s a Temptation Mount, Spectral Charger Horse, etc.
How to Command the Mount?
You can call your horse by pressing the Z key or whatever button is assigned. Also, there’s a cool-down period regarding your mount. So once you have called your mount, you will have to wait 10 seconds before you can call it again. Know that when you will dismount, the horse will disappear instantly.
There are three skills you get with the horse:
- Defensive Skill: You can survive torrents of enemies if you find yourself stuck.
- Spur: This will increase the horse’s speed, but only for a little while. However, it has a short cool-down and comes with three charges. Note that you can’t use this skill inside towns.
- Dismount: This will let you get down from the horse.
Can Enemies Attack the Horse?
Your horse won’t sustain direct damage from enemy attacks, but it can become spooked if it stays in their presence for a long while. There’s an orange meter that will indicate how afraid it is.
Once this bar reaches the maximum level, you will have to dismount, or rather, you will be forced to. Note that the sensitivity of the meter is connected to the world tiers of the game. As such, make sure you avoid spooking your mount.
Overall, having a horse will make the game easier to traverse, as you will be able to reach quests easily. Also, it’s great to have a companion on long journeys.
