Reality TV shows and romances- name a more iconic duo than this. Tyler Crispen and Angela Rummans were one more couple formed on the sets of the reality show Big Brother season 20 in 2018. They got close together right off the bat and competed together in the show.
Once the show ended, their relationship, which was dubbed a showmance by many, continued in real life as well. In 2021, they got engaged, but they upset fans and broke their hearts when it was revealed that they had broken up in December 2022. But why did they break up after being together for about four years?
Tyler Crispen and Angela Rummans broke up in December 2022 after being together since they met in 2018 on Big Brother 20. Rummans said in a YouTube video that they had problems after their January 2021 engagement.
She thought some time apart would heal the relationship. It didn’t, and neither did couples therapy work. So they split. But they are business partners and own the jewelry company Naut & Chain as well as a house in South Carolina.
Why Did Tyler and Angela Break Up?
Big Brother fans loved Tyler Crispen and Angela Rummans. When they got together in season 20 of the show, many doubted the authenticity of the relationship. But everyone was delighted when they stayed together after the show and got engaged in January 2021. However, the news of their December 2022 breakup broke hearts into pieces.
Tyler and Angela offered no clarification regarding the breakup for a long time. As a result, rumors swirled about the reasons behind their split. Some fans speculated that their codependency made them realize the relationship wasn’t ultimately good for them.
After all, Angela once commented that they had spent at most three nights apart at a stretch after exiting the Big Brother house. So when Angela participated in The Challenge and went to the finals, did that time apart from her beau make her conclude that her Big Brother relationship wouldn’t work in real life?
Many think that it’s possible because, on The Challenge, she was fierce and did everything imaginable- from forming alliances to winning close-call competitions to get herself to the finals. When Tyler called her to tell her how proud he was of her and how much he missed her, fans noticed she didn’t look too impressed.
Tyler Crispen talked about his relationship in an interview with CinemaBlend, where he said that his personal changes proved to be the death nail in his relationship. The ex-Big Brother contestant said:
“I’ve always been a lone wolf. I’ve always valued being able to take care of myself, and I got away from that for a while. I wasn’t trusting myself. I wasn’t confident in myself. I wasn’t able to be myself, and at the end of the day, if you’re not able to be yourself and thrive, then nothing around you will be able to thrive either.”
However, he doesn’t think poorly of his ex-partner. But he admitted that the time after their breakup was hard for him. Ultimately, he was thankful for the relationship and what it brought him.
Angela talked about the relationship in her own YouTube video as well. She said it was difficult for her and Tyler after the engagement. In fact, she went on The Challenge show because she thought that spending some time apart would help the relationship. It did not. But they didn’t give up.
The two went to couples therapy, but that also didn’t help. So in late 2022, they decided to call it quits. However, the couple hasn’t departed entirely from each other’s lives. They own a jewelry company called Naut & Chain together and have also written a cookbook that details their healthy lifestyle. Not to mention that they also own a house together in South Caroline.
So even if the personal relationship is over, the business one will continue, at least for now.
