Big Brother is accustomed to sparking controversies among the housemates and eventually expelling the offenders who disrespect their fellow competitors while the world is watching.
Jared Fields, 25, who resides in Norwalk, Conn, is the new houseguest to generate another controversy in Big Brother season 25. While it isn’t avoidable that arguments are bound to happen between allies and enemies, what Jared Fields has done left fans wanting him to leave the house.
On Friday, September 1, Jared discussed strategies with his allies and explained how disastrous it would be for his gameplay if America Lopez, his target, won the Power of Veto. Further pointing out that she can save herself from eviction, Jared called America the R-word.
What Is the R-word That Jared Used?
Although it was not entirely clear what R-word Jared used during the discussion since the stream on Pluto TV was shortly cut off after he uttered it, it closely rhymes with the word “Retard,” which is seen as a derogatory term for the people who can’t learn at normal pace.
While it doesn’t mean that he called her mentally disabled, the rules of Big Brother, which have eliminated a certain few participants in the past, would consider it an offensive term.
Shortly after the incident, Jared apologized to Cory, who was hanging out with Izzy Gleicher, by saying, “I don’t think she’s (America) the R-word. I slipped up. I’m sorry about that.”
While it is still unclear whether Big Brother expelled him from the house, a similar incident occurred in the earlier season with Luke Valentine, who uttered the N-word on August 9 and was eventually forced to leave the house.
The network has told US Weekly in a statement regarding their code of conduct and house rules. They said,
“Luke violated the BIG BROTHER code of conduct, and there is zero tolerance in the house for using a racial slur. He has been removed from the house. His departure will be addressed in Thursday night’s show.”
After being expelled from the show, Luke expressed his thoughts on Instagram Live later in August. In his words,
“I’m not upset at the production. Their hands were tied. They had to make a sacrifice. I understand why. It is upsetting. I think they made the wrong decision. I think a slap on the wrist would have been a much better thing.”
Furthermore, this is not the first time that Jared has been seen bearing problematic behavior because, during his first month in the house, he shamed Blue Kim based on her past sexual behavior. On the basis of these two incidents, a huge number of fans are upset with Jared and demanding Big Brother to evict him.
How Are Fans Reacting to Jared’s Slip-Up
Fans feel it is unjust to brush it off, given the offensive behavior he has shown in the house not once but twice this season.
Meanwhile, one X user named Michael tweeted that Jared is a terrible teammate by posting a hilarious remark using rocks as an example.
On the other hand, a fan page named BIGBROTHER+ exclaimed about the unstable decisions of the house and how they rarely eliminate someone, even for being a racist.
While the producers have not addressed the new controversy nor announced that they will expel Jared, what happens during the next episode is yet to be seen. The Big Brother live feeds are available on Paramount+ and Pluto TV.

Jared is not from Omak, WA. He’s from Norwalk, CT.
He should be gone. CBS made a big mistake this year with the mother son deal. Now he screwed up but CBS will do nothing but they will suffer for it especially if he or his mother win. Then we know they planned it and this season was set up.
HE SHOULD BE REMOVED ASAP. Rules are for EVERYONE, not just a select few. But it won’t happen. What would happen with your big deal family connection with Cirie if he was removed. Did you think that was going to boost ratings this year. NOT!
What is wrong with calling a retard a retard ?
BLM
Jared needs to go.
He should be kicked off just as anyone else would have been. My question is , why are we even having this conversation. No discussion should be needed rules apply to every player !
Again, (apparently) it is alright to black and break the rules. He should be thrown out! His HoH week SCRUBBED. He should go and everyone else stays. New HoH comp and new noms.
