All of Us Are Dead premiered on streaming giant Netflix in January 2022. The South Korean series is based on the Naver webtoon of the same name created by Joo Dong-Geun.

It focuses on a group of high school students who band together to survive a zombie outbreak.

The show has already been renewed for season 2. But there has been no word on production or release date till now. So when can we expect to see the show return?

All of Us Are Dead will begin production in early 2024. So, a December 2024 or early 2025 premiere date is possible. Park Ji-hu as Nam On-jo, Cho Yi-hyun as Choi Nam-ra, etc., are expected to return. Cheong-San’s potential return and the existence of hybrid zombies are supposed to be the show’s main plotline.

In a surprising twist of events, fans of the popular South Korean Netflix series “All of Us Are Dead” were delighted when the streaming giant announced the official renewal of the show for a second season during Netflix Geeked Week 2022 on June 6.

The announcement came alongside a video featuring some of the beloved cast members, including Park Ji-hu, Lomon, Yoon Chan-young, and Cho Yi-hyun, sparking excitement among viewers.

However, it seems that the road to Season 2 has encountered a few unexpected bumps.

Director Lee Jaegyu, who is preparing season 2 of 'All of Us Are Dead' as his next work, said,

"In the season 2, more powerful zombies will appear and the story develops as Seoul falls into the hands of zombies, the scale of the zombies becomes larger and more dynamic."#AOUAD pic.twitter.com/Fq33AGEFmL

Park Ji-hu, who portrays the character On-jo, confirmed in a March 2023 interview that filming for the second season had yet to commence despite the initial announcement nearly a year ago.

Delays were attributed to the cast’s hectic schedules and commitments to other projects.

Despite concerns about potential disruptions caused by industry strikes, as the show is filmed in South Korea, production is expected to kick off in early 2024, with a December 2024 premiere date in mind.

Additionally, a January 2025 release window is possible, as Season 1 had originally debuted in January 2022.

Fans will undoubtedly be eagerly awaiting the return of “All of Us Are Dead,” keeping their fingers crossed for an exciting continuation of the series.

In June 2022, Netflix teased Season 2 of “All of Us Are Dead” with a short trailer featuring a zombie horde and the number two, creating excitement for the series’ return.

While it wasn’t a full trailer with new footage, it effectively stoked anticipation. Following Netflix’s usual pattern, we might expect the official Season 2 trailer to drop about two months before its premiere.

Comparatively, Season 1 had three trailers: a release date teaser on December 31, 2021, an official trailer on January 7, 2022, and a final trailer on January 14, 2022, two weeks before its premiere.

A similar marketing timeline could be in store for Season 2.

In Season 2 of “All of Us Are Dead,” the core cast, including Su-hyeok, On-jo, Ha-ri, Mi-jin, Dae-su, and Hyo-rung, is set to make a return.

While it appeared that Cheong-San met his demise in Season 1, Yoon Chan-yeong’s presence in the Season 2 announcement video suggests a possible return.

Expected returning actors and characters for Season 2 are:

  • Cho Yi-hyun – Choi Nam-ra
  • Yoon Chan-yeong – Lee Cheong-san
  • Lee Eun-saem – Park Mi-jin
  • Ha Seung-ri – Jang Ha-ri
  •  Lee Su-hyeok – Lomon
  • Im Jae-hyuk – Dae-su
  • Kim Bo-yoon – Hyo-ryung

As of writing, no additional cast members have been announced for Season 2 yet.

The first season of “All of Us Are Dead” left fans on the edge of their seats with a jaw-dropping cliffhanger.

Nam-ra, a character who had transformed into a half-zombie and half-human hybrid, made a dramatic return to reunite with her friends. This reunion was undeniably unusual, given her unique condition within the show’s lore.

Within the world of “All of Us Are Dead,” there exists a category of infected individuals who manage to retain their humanity while gaining exceptional physical abilities such as heightened sight, agility, and strength.

However, the drawback is their insatiable craving for human flesh.

Nam-ra’s final interaction in Season 1 suggests that she has indeed become one of these zombie-human hybrids, raising questions about her ability to resist the urge to infect her peers.

Furthermore, the season’s concluding scene hints at the presence of others, as Nam-ra cryptically mentions hearing “them” nearby.

Is she unknowingly putting her friends in danger? Season 2 may delve into the mystery of these hybrids and explore Nam-ra’s connection with her newfound zombie companions.

In February 2022, director Lee Jae-kyoo hinted at Season 2’s direction, suggesting it could focus on the survival of the zombies. This tantalizing prospect could expand the show’s narrative, especially with the introduction of new zombie categories like the immune and immortal.

Another compelling subplot for Season 2 revolves around Cheong-San, whose supposed survival promises emotional reunions and heroic acts as he might rescue his friends from rogue hybrid zombies driven by his unwavering love for Nam-jo.

can't believe that its been 1 year since it was confirmed that "All of Us Are Dead" will have a season 2.

As “All of Us Are Dead” enters its sophomore season, viewers can anticipate the continuation of existing storylines and the introduction of fresh characters, formidable antagonists, and complex narratives.

The series’ future promises to be as thrilling and suspenseful as ever.

All of Us Are Dead Season 1 is available for streaming on Netflix.

What do you want to see in season 2 of the show? Do you think Cheong-San will return?
