Pixar and Harry Potter. How would that combination look? One of the most iconic animation styles in the world and one of the most iconic franchises coming together would create havoc on the internet.ย
In fact, it almost did.
Many people desperately went online and straight to Disney+ to search for this film. So, did this Pixar and Harry Potter crossover happen? Or was it just a hoax?
No, Pixar didnโt make a Harry Potter movie. TikToker @tony.aube pranked people into believing it when he showed a loading screen of Pixar animated Harry Potter and the Philosopherโs Stone film on Disney+. But fans havenโt found anything since Warner Bros. holds the rights to Harry Potter.
Did Pixar Make a Harry Potter Movie?
In the comment section of TikToker @tony.aube, people were making curious comments. They were talking about how disappointed they were because when they checked out Disney+, they failed to find Pixarโs Harry Potter film.ย
So, did Pixar really make a Harry Potter movie? No. They didnโt.
The news circulating about it is fake. It first originated because TikToker @tony.aube put up a video of a TV screen showing a thumbnail for an animated Harry Potter and the Philosopherโs Stone film by Pixar on Disney+.
Viewers also spotted Dugโs Day and A Bugโs Life on the TV screen video as well. The TikToker then showed a loading icon on the Harry Potter movie before cutting off the video.
Everything looked convincing. So, as expected, many ran to Disney+ to find the film but were left disappointed.
The book series by J.K. Rowling was adapted for the first time for the silver screen in 2001, and since then, they havenโt had to look back. They have made eight films till 2011.
Also, it has been made into a theme park and has merchandise stores, Broadway productions, etc. In fact, the book series will be adapted into an HBO Max TV series soon as well.ย
Throughout this entire time, Warner Bros. has held the rights to Harry Potter. As such, even if a Pixar film based on Harry Potter does get made, it will be on HBO Max and not Disney+.ย
Even if someone adapts an entire Harry Potter book in Pixarโs style using AI, it probably wonโt get distributed. This is because the maker might get hit with a copyright infringement letter from WB.
But thereโs some consolation for everyoneโs shattered hopes.ย
Even if you canโt see an entire film based on Pixarโs iconic style, you can check out AI-generated posters of all the Harry Potter books on Instagram. The Pixar style does make the fantasy book series look even more magical. But for now, itโs not a reality.
All the Harry Potter films are streaming on HBO Max.
So, were you duped by this fake news, too? What are your thoughts about TikTokers fooling fans of mega franchises for views? Does the gradual perfection of AI art scare you?
