Fortnite’s new update of v27.10 saw an extended downtime and server issues due to massive engagement. So, thousands had to wait in the lobby for their turn to get in and play the new season.
However, the problems didn’t end there.
Many are now complaining that no Ready Up button pops up on the screen after a match anymore. So, did Fortnite remove it?
Fortnite players complained that the Ready Up button was unavailable after a match. On November 16, 2023, @FortniteStatus addressed the issue- They had “temporarily disabled” the feature due to a problem and were “investigating a fix.” No update has been provided till now.
Why Did Fortnite Get Rid Of The Ready Up Button?
For a full day, Fortnite gamers have been complaining about not seeing a Ready Up button on their screen when their match ends so that they can jump to the next one.
This button helps gamers get ready for a match when they are in the matchmaking or lobby screen. As a result of the absence of this option, players now have to return to the lobby compulsorily, and there they have to queue for the next match.
To make matters worse, the waiting time involved in getting back to the lobby and starting again means that sometimes players lose the gang they are playing with. The issue is affecting console and PC players both.
Some tried to restart the game and perform a power cycle. But many are reporting that this didn’t work as well. On the FortNiteBR subreddit, users are blaming the company for pandering to parents and kids rather than the adults who play the game.
User FortniteMelonYT wrote:
“Maybe since Fortnite is now a PEGI-3 game. They don’t want their little kids (who shouldn’t play FN at all) to play too much gaming.”
Another user, thebaldfox, wrote regarding the absence of the Ready Up button:
“WTF are they even doing? ALL of these changes could have been tied to parental controls! There was no reason to force this garbage on grown-ass adults!”
As expected, fans want the developers to fix the issue immediately.
On November 16, 2023, the @FortniteStatus account updated fans about the situation. In the tweet, they wrote:
“Please note: We’ve temporarily disabled Split Screen functionality and the ‘Ready Up’ and ‘Keep Playing Together’ buttons due to an issue. We’re investigating a fix for this now and will provide an update when these features have been re-enabled.”
This feature hasn’t been added to the game at the time of writing, and the above Twitter/ X account hasn’t provided any substantial update either.
So, for now, there’s nothing the players can do except wait and return to the lobby to prepare for the next match.
Has the Ready Up button disappeared from your Fortnite screen, too? Are you also returning to the lobby to queue for the next match?
