Back in August, a hopeful CEO, Jun Hong Joon, was hopeful for the future of the rookie girl group and had an optimistic vision for them. At that time, he said–
“Above all, I want the members to come back (to ATTRAKT).”
And cut to the present, Keena has returned to ATTRAKT.
But the timeline between these decisions has been a roller-coaster ride for both the agency and FIFTY FIFTY. Several lies, conspiracies, and hidden agendas have been uncovered within just a couple of months.
At first, fans were in splits when FIFTYFIFTY announced that they were filing a lawsuit against CEO Jun of ATTRAKT over breach of contract. However, the CEO exposed a shady poaching deal by the CEO of THE GIVERS (another agency that co-manages FIFTY FIFTY), who tried to sell the group to a third party.
Some netizens believed that the group members were making false accusations against the ATTRAKT CEO so that he would end their contract.
The subsequent development in the case baffled the fans further when a reality show, ‘Unanswered Questions,’ revealed a detailed report of how the girl group was provided with insufficient meals that accounted for just $165 per month.
The company allegedly mistreated the young girls by throwing away the food their parents got for them. They were also subjected to unhealthy diet plans to make them “skinnier.”
And by the end of August, the conflict was scheduled for the final verdict. The court announced that FIFTY FIFTY’s application for an injunction to end the contract with ATTRAKT had been rejected on account of insufficient evidence. But the group was said to be appealing in the higher court soon after.
After all the fiasco, one member seems to have extended an olive branch.
On October 16, Keena, the main rapper of FIFTY FIFTY, returned to her former agency, ATTRAKT, and dropped her lawsuit against them. Per CEO Jun Hong Joon, Keena was mentally and physically exhausted because of The Givers agency. CEO Ahn Sung Il diluted Keena’s copyright shares from 6.5% to 0.5%.
Why Did FIFTY FIFTY’s Keena Return To ATTRAKT?
ATTRAKT CEO told the reporters how Keena returned to the agency–
“She came to the office at 5pm on October 16. It was also the first time that I was seeing her in 5 months. I didn’t know what to say to her then. She looked in bad shape, both mentally and physically. She spent 4 to 5 months suffering in the darkness. So I kept things short. I told her this. “You have to take some time off to reflect, and you have to apologize deeply and sincerely on the other hand. Thirdly, you need to get a grip and speak in front of a lawyer about what happened all this while accurately and without adjustments. That’s the only way I can figure out who lied to you guys and how. How they tempted you, and what mistakes were made… Let’s make time for a conversation.” She said okay to that. So we agreed to talk about what happened all this while, a day or two later.”
When asked why he thinks that Keena chose to drop the lawsuit and return to the agency, he explained–
“She was so tired. It was hard for her. That’s why I asked her this. “Keena, didn’t you feel that something was wrong with Ahn Sung Il?” She replied that she completely didn’t know that he falsified his school records, and reduced her copyright shares from 6.5% to 05.%. She began to not trust him because of that, and that was when she started to realize that he was not an upright person. They’re a team, and so all four of them have to come, but it’s become such that that cannot happen. Because they are thinking different thoughts. That’s why Keena took the courage first to come. That’s also a difficult decision.”
He finally concludes with why he is ready to take the group back and a word of advice for Keena–
“I told Keena, ‘you have to take some time to reflect on what you did wrong. I don’t know how long it will take, but you truly need to do that. Only then, will you be able to be reborn as a mature being. And there are also many things I did when I was young, that I am embarrassed to even think of now. That’s how humans mature, so next time, don’t go into any dark or humid places. When you feel like you have entered such places, it means that you’re placing yourself into a situation where something is definitely wrong. Don’t place your body and mind in such places.’”
However, netizens believe that there is some foul play in these statements. Some think that the eldest of the group, Keena, is being manipulated. In contrast, others believe that she made the right decision for the artistic choice.
What are your thoughts on this? Do you think Keena made the right choice? Does CEO Jun have a personal agenda?
