Nothing is scarier than a high-on-hormones teenager who wants to do some dumb sh*t. Now multiply that energy by 100, and you get the worst man-made calamity.
Philadelphia experienced one such havoc when the police lines were buzzing with a series of complaints one-after-another in what seemed like a never-ending night.
On September 27, 2023, around 100 juveniles went on a serial loot spree, moving from store to store at the heart of the City Center, including Lululemon, Footlocker, and Apple outlets. The police managed to apprehend around 20 of them and recovered two firearms on the scene. A live footage shows piles of bikes, merchandise, and products lying on the street as the teenagers dropped them while running away.
What Happened in Philadelphia Today?
Dayjia Blackwell was enjoying her time on the streets of Philadelphia, at the heart of the City Center. As she was meandering through the night, she noticed a thundering noise approaching her. What no one could have imagined was a legion of teenagers charging on the streets, like “This Is Sparta!”
Knowing instantly that the night was about to get chaotic, Blackwell whipped out her phone and started live streaming on her social handle, “@StreamerMeatball.” The live footage from her stream captured the delinquents looting the store, wearing Halloween masks.
Around 15000 people were tuned in live to watch the loot, whereas Blackwell was seen encouraging and even participating in the crime.
Police arrived at the scene promptly. In one instance, a police officer punched one of the juvenile offenders and dropped him to the ground to arrest him. In the end, only 20 of them were apprehended.
After the stream, the viewers reported Streamer Meatball, and she was seen getting arrested as well. However, the police have not yet confirmed whether she was charged with any felonies.
Why Did Masked Kids Loot Footlocker, Lululemon, and Apple Stores?
According to a few reports, the intention of the mob gathering was a peaceful protest.
This rebellion was arranged following the court’s decision on the previous day that dismissed the murder and other severe charges against a Philadelphia police officer. The officer shot and killed a driver, Eddie Irizarry, through a rolled-up window.
The protests turned into violent riots, creating havoc on the Philadelphia streets, looting stores, and costing insane amounts of losses in damages.
However, the authorities have denied that these riots of 100 teenagers and young adults have any connection to the Black Lives Movement, as reported by CBS Philadelphia.
The exact reason for the mass loot will be disclosed only after the investigations reach a conclusion. We shall keep you updated on the verdict.
What are your thoughts on this case? Do you believe that these riots were done for a cause or just for shenanigans?
