Some cases are so grueling that they transcend the bounds of our imagination. The depth of human cruelty and the sheer brutality witnessed in certain instances can leave us speechless, challenging our capacity to comprehend the darkness that can reside within individuals.
Cases like the one involving Taylor Schabusiness are undeniably gruesome and shocking. They push us to contemplate whether our existing legislation is adequately structured to prevent such heinous crimes.
Schabusiness shook everyone with her brutal killing of her ex-lover, a case no one was prepared for, not even the law enforcement. As further investigation on the case unfolded, people waited with bated breath to see what the fate of the murderess would be, who had almost no remorse for her actions.
In a recent trial, Taylor Schabusiness was seen wearing a special spit mask during her court appearance, known as a spit hood, which is typically used for individuals who pose a risk of spitting on officers or court personnel during proceedings.
Why Is Taylor Schabusiness Wearing a Mask?
In a recent courtroom spectacle, Taylor Schabusiness, who was convicted of a gruesome murder, appeared wearing an unusual accessory, a face mask, that raised eyebrows and questions.
This unique addition to her attire happened to be a spit mask, or more professionally known as a spit hood, typically reserved for individuals exhibiting unruly behavior, particularly those attempting to spit on officers or court personnel during legal proceedings.
Schabusiness, a 25-year-old hailing from Green Bay, Wisconsin, had been charged with the horrifying murder of her ex-boyfriend in February 2022. What transpired during her trial was equally chilling, as she openly confessed to the ghastly details of the crime.
Her admission included strangulation with a chain and the mutilation of the victim’s (her ex-boyfriend) remains. This gruesome act took place in her ex-boyfriend’s mother’s basement, with body parts scattered throughout the house and even inside a vehicle.
Following the trial, Schabusiness was found guilty on multiple counts, including homicide, third-degree sexual abuse, and mutilating a corpse, with the homicide charge carrying a mandatory life prison sentence.
However, it was her recent court appearance donning the spit mask that piqued the interest of social media users and ignited discussions.
While Schabusiness faced her sentencing, her father, Arturo Coronado, took the opportunity to shed light on her troubled upbringing and her battle with substance abuse.
He shared a perspective that painted his daughter as a victim of her circumstances rather than a monstrous perpetrator. Coronado suggested that substances had turned his daughter into what he described as a “zombie.”
What Is the Final Verdict in Taylor Schabusiness’ Case?
In a courtroom filled with somber tension, Schabusiness received a life sentence without the possibility of parole for her gruesome crimes.
The judge’s ruling came after a jury’s swift decision to find Taylor Schabusiness guilty of first-degree intentional homicide, third-degree sexual assault, and mutilating a corpse. The jury’s deliberation lasted a mere 50 minutes, and they firmly rejected her insanity plea.
As the sentencing hearing unfolded, Schabusiness, facing the consequences of her heinous actions, had little to say when asked if she had any final words. Her succinct reply was simply,
“No, there isn’t.”
Schabusiness has a 2-year-old son, who is now in the process of being adopted by her grandmother. Family dynamics and troubled backgrounds were brought to the forefront during the trial, with Schabusiness’s father, Arturo Coronado, although they were dismissed.
He testified himself wearing shackles and an orange jumpsuit, as he is currently serving a 12-year prison sentence for sexually assaulting a child.
