Why Is JS Fetty Wap in Jail?
On Wednesday, the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced that rapper Willie Junior Maxwell II, better known as Fetty Wap, has been sentenced to six years in federal prison for his involvement in a drug trafficking conspiracy.
Fetty Wap, who gained fame for his hit song “Trap Queen,” has been found guilty of conspiring to traffic narcotics across the country. The court statement revealed that as part of the conspiracy, over 100 kilograms of cocaine, heroin, fentanyl, and crack cocaine were distributed with the help of four co-defendants, one of whom was a corrections officer.
The federal investigation uncovering his involvement in the drug trade comes as a shock, as Fetty Wap was once considered a role model and a hero for disadvantaged and backward communities. His sentencing is a stark reminder of the dangers of drug trafficking and the serious consequences that come with it.
How Many Drugs Did Fetty Wap Get Charged With?
As part of the investigation, search warrants were executed, and this led to the recovery of a significant amount of illicit materials. These materials included $1.5 million in cash, 16 kilograms of cocaine, 2 kilograms of heroin, and a large number of fentanyl pills. Additionally, two 9mm handguns, a rifle, a .45 caliber pistol, a .40 caliber pistol, and various types of ammunition were confiscated from Fetty Wap.
The individuals involved in this illegal operation, namely Anthony Leonardi, Robert Leonardi, Brian Sullivan, and Kavaughn Wiggins, were responsible for purchasing and transporting the narcotics from the west coast to the east coast.
Upon arrival, the drugs were processed, stored, and later resold. Maxwell was one of the kilogram-level redistributors for this trafficking organization, while Cyntje was tasked with transporting kilograms of cocaine from Long Island to New Jersey.
In October of 2021, Maxwell, a NJ resident, found himself in legal trouble for his participation in a drug smuggling conspiracy involving heroin, fentanyl, and various other controlled substances.
