“A Lotus blooms in the mud.”
If one wants to see a positive change in society, one must enter murky situations to bring the change.
Tim Scott, a conservative Republican, believes his roots encourage him to imbibe American values. But being appointed a representative in the U.S. Senate has much more implications for Tim Scott, considering his race.
The only black Republican representative has already created a ripple effect with his Tax Cut policy, “OPPORTUNITY ZONES,” which will help thousands of low-income strata across 50 states, 5 U.S. territories, and the District of Columbia. And now he is set to make huge waves as he officially announced his candidacy for the 2024 Presidential elections on 22 May 2023.
Why Is Tim Scott Running For 2024 Presidential Elections?
The Republican party will gain a reboot with Scott’s nomination and conceal Trump’s recent charges. However, Tim Scott is more than just a black Republican. He is a man on a mission. With his full conviction, Scott expressed his intention to run for President–
“Joe Biden and the radical left are attacking every single rung of the ladder that helped me climb, and that’s why I’m announcing today that I’m running for president of the United States,”
He told the reporters in his hometown, North Charleston.
“You see, they’re attacking our American values, our schools, our economy, and our security. But not on my watch. Not on my watch. That won’t work. I can’t stand by while this is done to America.”
According to him, he has inculcated his business values to see a trajectory in America that has become stagnant in the Biden administration.
He has raised $22 million for his election campaign, which is more than any other candidate.

Main Criticisms on Tim Scott’s Presidential Run as a Black Republican
Tim Scott believes he can bring economic reforms for all communities in the Republican party while addressing the racial strain.
However, people quickly point out the paradox in his statements as his views restrict people’s rights.
He shared his experience of being pulled over by law officials seven times a year in a rampant case of racial profiling. He was also stopped inside the U.S. Capitol Building. However, he is still adamant that racial division is not prevalent in the nation, as evident from his support for ex-president Donald Trump. When asked if he thinks Trump is racist? Scott replies, “He is racially insensitive.”
Such statements pose an imminent threat to the future of reforms, as seen in the “Unite The Right” rally in Charlottesville and the violence that ensued. Trump’s “blame on both sides” was not a diplomatic statement but a declaration of his support to the white supremacists.
If Scott wants to bring a change to the minority communities, people think he should condemn such statements loud and clear. But so far, he has maintained a neutral position, claiming that he is focused on their economic development.
He has faced pushback from the democrats over his views, but he stands his ground on conservative values, stating– “My life disproves the lies of the radical left.”
People also believe that Tim Scott is a mere prop for the Republican Party under the pretext of inclusivity. He is supposed to be the vote bank for identity politics. But Tim claims he is ready to lead the governance of a better future for minorities and not just be the puppet.
