Sonic Prime writer Duncan Rouleau has confirmed that there are currently no plans to make more episodes of Sonic Prime. Also, at the time of writing on January 13, 2024, Sonic Prime wasn’t renewed by Netflix for season 4.

Sonic Prime writer Duncan Rouleau has confirmed (via Cartoon Base) that there are currently no plans to make more episodes of Sonic Prime. His words were backed up by the concept artist Peter Slavik.
He posted on Twitter/ X:
“I hope everyone has loved Sonic Prime as much as we did crafting it, thanks so much for taking this journey with us exploring the Shatterspaces and these wonderful characters! Enjoy this fan art celebrating the finale!”
Peter’s words do have a ring of finality to it. So it looks like season 3 was the last season of Sonic Prime.
Also, as of now, there has also been no official announcement regarding the fate of Sonic Prime from Netflix.
Sonic Prime was originally commissioned for a total of twenty-four episodes, cleverly divided into three seasons, each consisting of eight episodes. It appears that the creators had always envisioned this epic adventure as having a clear beginning, middle, and end.
This structural choice added depth to the series, ensuring that the story arc remained tight and engaging. But it might also mean that the story the writers wanted to tell has been told.
However, fans want more, and the positive reception from fans is a testament to their love and the show’s quality.
On IMDb, Sonic Prime boasts a solid rating of 7.3/10, reflecting the enthusiasm and satisfaction of its viewers.
The critical acclaim extends to Rotten Tomatoes, where the first season holds an impressive 60% Average Tomatometer Rating, indicating favorable reviews from critics, and an 86% Average Audience Rating, highlighting its popularity among viewers.
The second season also garnered an 84% audience rating, further solidifying its fanbase. However, it looks like fans will have to remain satisfied with three seasons.

Netflix’s official synopsis for Sonic Prime Season 3 teases a thrilling plot twist. It says:
“With the power of the Paradox Prism under his control Nine turns the Shatterverse upside-down. However, the Prism power is as unstable as its wielder, and requires energy trapped inside of Sonic to stabilize. Extracting said energy, however, means that Sonic himself may shatter!
