The Idol that premiered on HBO turned out to be the hot topic for the season. The show portrayed the teenage dream but in the most crooked way. It had everything to captivate the audience – drama, emotions, and, of course, sex.
Lily-Rose Depp and The Weekend starter show received harsh reviews from critics but immense love from the audience. The narrative went into great detail to illustrate what can actually transpire when your wishes come true and how this can sometimes be for the worse.
The season finale was recently aired, and now speculation about season 2 is surfacing. Are you secretly wishing for a second season?
While speaking to Variety, De’Vine Joy Randolph revealed that HBO is happy with the numbers the Idol has garnered. Moreover, the Idol was never meant for a limited series, but nothing has been confirmed yet. Since the statements, the Idol fans have flooded social media with Season 2 memes.
Jocelyn Forever – Indeed!
The first season of The Idol unanticipatedly garnered accolades that no one could have imagined. Jocelyn, played by Lily-Rose Depp, wants to become a pop sensation, but her life takes a weird turn when she falls in love with a self-help guru and cult leader, Tedros (The Weekend).
The episodes forced people to sit on the edge of their seats. The storyline is well written and gives a wide scope for the actors to show their range. Along with all this, the climax is something to die for!
“Jocelyn Forever,” the final episode, changed the course of the show. Tedros, a cult leader who was the shining star, is now forced back by Jocelyn as she reveals that she was playing the victim card all this time. However, she also confesses that Tedros is her must and loves him. She rises like a phoenix, pushing Tedros back into the shadows.
The season finale couldn’t have been better. Jocelyn’s characters blossomed at the end, and the audience went gaga about it. The major reason for such strong demand for the last second season rose due to the last episode. (Couldn’t agree more!)
What to Expect from the Idol Season 2?
So, what would happen next? The gripping end has paved the way for Jocelyn’s character. From controlling a cult leader, Tedros, to making way for herself in the pop industry, Jocelyn has done some commendable things.
Compared to Tedros, Jocelyn was nothing initially in the episode, but everything drastically changed by the end. To say that the final episode stole the show would not be inaccurate. The following chapter would unquestionably be about Jocelyn, while Tedros’ fascinating character would also reveal its hues.
However, the question still remains the same – will there be a season two or not? If talking about popularity, the five-episode show has built a solid fan following. HBO has also stated that they are open to discussing the next season of the Idol.
Do you think The Idol will return with a new chapter? What would the second season entail? Will Tedros add new jazz to the mix?
