The first case of ‘ghosting’ ever recorded in dating history has to be when Billy was the Ghostface in Scream 1. Sidney has lived, or rather survived many lives as a target of the vicious killer up until Scream 4. The chronicles of the OG squad overcoming the slasher scenarios has become an integral history of pop culture.
The legendary horror director Wes Craven marked his last installment with Scream 4, thus bringing closure to his franchise. However, something echoed for the fans as Radio Silence Team revived it with a 2022 movie titled Scream.
Instead of naming it Scream 5, it indicated that the next-gen have arrived. Even though Sidney was a pivotal character, the Carpenter sisters were compelling to carry on the legacy.
Scream embarked on the journey of core-4 as they survived the deadly attacks and unveiled the killers. Continuing 25 years after the first killings, this movie was a decent meta-commentary and a tribute to Craven.
Fans rejoiced with the gripping storyline and the new-age killers, reflecting on the box-office collection of $138 million. And with that, Gen Z was introduced to classic 90s horror.
From Woodsboro to New York City, Scream VI (2023) changes the setting and makes it more interesting as the four main characters face the new Ghostface attacks again.
Without spilling any spoilers, Scream VI upped the ante with countless easter eggs and callbacks. And inarguably one of the best characters in Scream 4, Kirby makes a comeback as the FBI agent. The movie integrates Manhatten as a character to enhance the storyline.
The theme is heavy on bloodline (that’s all I can hint at), and with that, the plot thickens since blood is thicker than water.
And now the question is, will there be a Scream 7?
Scream VI was an instant fan favorite, with a box office collection of over $167 million. After the end scene, the theorists were already spewing possible storylines for the sequel. Scream VI set a benchmark with the most kills in the franchise while still retaining the core-4.
People are eager to see Sam Carpenter walking the fine line between her dark side with Billy’s generational curse. Jenna Ortega reviving her role as Tara would be crowd-pulling following her Wednesday fame. Although there has not been any official date confirmed, fans believe that the sequel is inevitable.
Most-Anticipated Comebacks in Scream 7
Hands down, Kirby has become the most interesting character. Her presence will bring new twists. Sidney Prescott had significantly less screen time in this movie. Maybe she can mentor the new gen. Whatever excuse to see Neve Campbell on screen.
It would be interesting to see who among the four main characters succumbs to Ghostface’s tricks. Speaking of which, who do you think would be the new Ghostface?
What Would We Want to See New in Scream 7?
The most exciting plotline would be to see the inner turmoil rather than a straightforward slasher movie. Hoping that the writers will create intelligent challenges for the characters.
Also, New York seems to be much more engrossing than a secluded town. Anticipating a jump scare in the middle of a chaotic city is way scarier.
What are you looking forward to most in the sequel? Which out of the core four would be signed off?
