No matter what social media or video-watching platform you are using, chances are that they will be slow or lag some time or the other.
Whether it is Facebook, MAX, Disney+, Crunchyroll, or any other platform, problems occur in each one. Currently, YouTube users are facing the same issue.
Many online are complaining that it has been completely unusable since the beginning of 2024. So, what is the reason? And why is it happening right at the start of 2024?
YouTube videos are lagging or slow in 2024 because of Adblocker. Turn off the Adblock extension and use any browser other than Chrome to mitigate the issue. Also, ensure that your videos aren’t running at 2160p. Instead, drop them to 1080p or 720p to solve the lagging problem.
Explained: Why Is YouTube Slow and Not Loading?
On the YouTube subreddit, user ajf_fja posted a complaint that the site was running too slow and videos were refusing to load. They wrote:
“When trying to watch Youtube on my Chromebook the lag on it is insane. When I click on a video it takes around 20 seconds to start playing, and if I try to fullscreen the video, skip forward or backward, or enter and exit full-screen mode, it takes a solid 10 seconds to go through and move through.”
The user also surmised the situation, writing:
“In general, it is almost impossible to watch anything without having to wait for absurdly long times. Does anybody have a fix for this? It was working just fine yesterday.”
Even on Twitter/ X, user @B0aty posted:
“Is anybody elses YouTube just completely unusable? Nothing loads and everything seems to run insanely slow.”
Multiple comments agreed with both of these posts on both platforms. One user even said that YouTube was the only site they were facing problems with. So, what is going on with the famous video-streaming site?
It looks like the problem stemmed from Adblocker. So, if you had the Adblocker extension, chances are YouTube was running slow for you.
It doesn’t matter if you are paying for YouTube Premium, you must disable Adblocker to ensure the site works normally and doesn’t lag.
Some users have also stated that the problem is exclusively happening on Chrome. So, if you are operating YouTube from another browser, you should be fine.
But that’s not the only solution. Many users are recommending using Ublock after disabling Adblock to ensure that YouTube works optimally.
Using these tips should solve the issue for you, but if it doesn’t. They try to check the video resolution you have on. Sometimes, 2160p videos can cause lag. So, drop it to 1080p or 720p to solve the lagging issue.
If the above solutions haven’t helped you, try restarting your PC after disabling your Adblocker.
