Not many shows can boast of having an episode count over 9500. The Price is Right has been airing since 1972, and each episode has kept the American audience well-entertained.
Bob Barker hosted the sweetheart show until Drew Carey took over in 2007. It has often been called the greatest game show of all time, and rightfully so. However, the show is facing a significant change, probably the biggest one after Barker’s leave.
For the past 51 years, The Price is Right has been hosted in Television City, but in a recent social media post, Drew Carey announced that the show would move to a new studio.
The change is massive since the studio has remained the same for half a century. Why would the producers make such a decision? Read on to know where the show is headed.
Where Is the Price of Right Moving to and Why?
“The Price is Right” game show is relocating to Haven Studios in Glendale, Los Angeles. The show is being moved to a new space since the Radford Studio Center is nearly a century old and is undergoing a $ 1.25 billion renovation.
Television City has been home to several famed programs like American Idol, Dancing with the Stars, and The Young and the Restless. It was the first large-scale facility designed for television production in the US.
According to the Rios website, the billion-dollar renovation will “reaffirm Television City as a premier production facility for decades to come.” The vision is to allow the studio to accommodate evolving technologies and industry demands.
It is unknown if The Price is Right will move back to Television City once the renovation ends. However, the studio will soon look for shows that need to be filmed at the location, and we hope the classic shows can get back in again.
Carey’s post stated that they now have to put their good vibes into the new place after admitting that the previous studio held tons of good vibes.
The Price is Right has fetched stable views for over five decades and ushered game shows into a new era. It moved away from the quiz shows and created a noisy carnival atmosphere that challenged previous norms.
Let’s hope that the show continues bringing us joy in the new studio, as it has become a staple in American TV shows.
