As Independence Day rolled around, Americans took full advantage of the federal holiday by bursting firecrackers, busting out the outdoor grills, and, most of all, meeting friends and family.
Millions of Americans travel from home at this time of the month, and travel numbers have never been higher. In fact, an 11.2% jump was seen compared to last year’s air travel record.
Despite the prices of some commodities being higher, Americans are not cutting back on travel this summer. A record-breaking air travel volume of 4 million and car travel of 43 million was projected days before the 4th of July.
In the spirit of Independence Day, Sheetz has taken it upon itself to help Americans reach their destinations with a bit more change in their pockets and satisfaction in their hearts.
Why Is Sheetz Gas so Cheap on the Fourth of July?
Sheetz stores have dropped their prices by 50% to help the community on Independence Day. This the Fourth of July, prices were dropped to $1.776 per gallon on regular E85 (flex fuel), unleaded 88, mid-grade, and premium fuel grades. The offer does not apply to diesel.
Prices have been slashed at Sheetz stores across the US. The offer began at 12:01 am and will be open the whole day until gases last. The price drop happened in the 675+ stores in Ohio, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania.
The President and CEO of Sheetz, Travis Sheetz, commented, “We hope this discount helps our customers keep a little more change in their wallets as they travel to celebrate the 4th of July with friends and family, with an obvious nod to our nation’s birthday.”
Last year, Sheetz had a similar discount as two of their blends dropped in price on the Fourth of July. Last November, Sheets reduced the cost of Unleaded Unleaded 88 to $1.99 a gallon at a few stores during the Thanksgiving week. However, the company has gone above and beyond this year to make customers happy.
As a result of the 50% price slash, quite a crowd gathered at Sheetz as drivers were seen lining up for miles.
Do you think Sheetz will make a tradition out of this wonderful surprise, or will it become a one-time legend?
Let’s hope more offers on gas prices during major holidays are ahead.
