ARMYs is not just a fandom; it’s a force that catapulted seven boys from an unknown company to global icons that have more influence than any authority.
BTS has always attributed its visibility in international media a result of its fans’ dedication to promoting, supporting, and encouraging the K-pop boy band regardless of what the world throws against them.
Every milestone of BTS’s success would birth a million antis whose sole purpose of existence is to criticize the group. Even though one ARMY is enough to stand strong against thousands of nemesis, some hateful souls have vile agendas against BTS that require legal intervention.
This recent case can send chills down your spine because of how unhinged people can be throwing around death threats.
BTS’s Jungkook, who just released his solo album, Golden, is on a promotional tour. RNX News revealed that his group member, Jimin, will also be tagging along with Jungkook. One X user account, ‘@jeanhwi,’ posted on November 22, 2023, threatening Jimin that she would kill him if he intervened with Jungkook’s solo activities in Japan. This raised concerns among ARMYs who are trending ‘Protect Jimin’ to alert the agency of a possible threat.
Is Jimin in Danger? Did Someone Send Him a Death Threat?
Solo stans: People who devote their lives to one person and consider every other artist’s as their idol’s enemy. Of course, this definition applies to only a select few problematic fans, but sometimes, the mental cartwheel in their brain compels them to cross the line of decency.
Jimin and Jungkook both have worked super hard for their solo ventures, and both have made a significant mark on the global level.
A few days back, ‘Respect for Jimin’ was trending since his fans believed that BigHit Entertainment was treating his solo debut unfairly with incompetence in promoting “Like Crazy.”
Although most ARMYs perceived this as Jimin’s solo fans creating a mountain out of a molehill, considering BigHit has been supporting OT7 equally.
Speaking of solo fans, Jimin has become a target of Jungkook’s fans.
On November 22, 2023, ARMYs woke up and chose violence when a Twitter account ‘@jeanhwi’ alluded to a death threat on the “Set Me Free Pt.2” singer. She stated in the post–
“I hate selfish members more than the company. I will curse the members until the end. I will kill Jimin if he intervenes in Jungkook.”
- Here, she implies that Jimin attending Jungkook’s promotional event will steal the spotlight from the “Closer To You Singer.”
- She is blatantly sending death threats to Jimin if he goes to Japan.
Fans Are Trending ‘PROTECT JIMIN’ on X (Twitter)
After ARMYs discovered that some Saesang (obsessive fan) is threatening Jimin, they did what they do best– Twitter experienced a Tsunami of posts with the hashtag “PROTECT Jimin.”
ARMYs are trending the hashtag to alert BigHit Entertainment of a possible danger to Jimin when he visits Japan with Jungkook.
Most ARMYs also condemned the OP for sending vile threats just because she only supports one member of BTS.
Death threats on K-pop idols aren’t uncommon; however, they should never be normalized if we want the idols to maintain their peace of mind. Recently, Aespa’s Winter was subjected to similar violent threats, after which the agency took legal action.
What are your opinions on this? Do you think there should be strict legal action against the X user? Do you believe that Jimin is in danger?
