Recently, So-min’s company, King Kong, announced her departure from “Running Man.” The decision was welcomed by the production team of the variety drama. So-min joined the cast in 2017, showcasing her vibrant and comedic personality.
Her company, King Kong by Starship, released an official statement reporting,
“Actress Jun So Min will be stepping down from SBS’s “Running Man” following her final recording on October 30 (Monday).”
The company further clarified the reason behind the decision, saying,
“She went through great contemplation as it is a program that she has maintained a relationship with for a long time, and after long discussion with the “Running Man” members and production team as well as the agency, we decided that she needs some time to recharge in order to impress even further through future activities including her acting [activities].”
On the other hand, the team of “Running Man” also informed the fans about the changes in the show, publishing,
“We decided to respect Jun So Min’s decision to leave after she expressed her intention to step down following lengthy discussion with the “Running Man” members and production team. Jun So Min will be leaving “Running Man” following the October 30 recording.”
Fans are speculating if the departure is influenced by the unnecessary hate she was getting from the netizens. Few are happy for her, while some are in tears as they will miss Jeon So Min’s presence on the set.
