Queer Eye is honestly one of the best things to happen in reality television, having won 10 Primetime Emmys for its absolutely phenomenal seven seasons.
With the eighth season set to be released on January 24, 2024, fans were looking forward to more endeavors from the Fab Five, but Bobby just dropped a bomb by announcing that he will leave Queer Eye after the eighth season.
So, why is Bobby leaving Queer Eye? On November 14, 2023, Bobby Berk, the interior design expert in Queer Eye series, revealed through an Instagram post that he will leave the show after the eighth season. Although he didn’t reveal the true intent behind his departure, he mentioned that it was a necessary and not an easy decision.
Why Is Bobby Leaving Queer Eye After Season 8?
With Queer Eye moving at a great pace with each season, you would think the dynamic between the Fab Five would only get better but have you ever thought one of them would leave the series?
Well, it is highly unlikely because each of the five actors: Bobby Berk, Tan France, Antoni Porowski, Karamo Brown, and Jonathan Van Ness have gotten along well with each other.
However, Bobby Berk took to Instagram on November 14 and announced that he would be leaving the show following the conclusion of season eight. While he didn’t precisely mention why he was leaving the show, he left a long and heartfelt message for the fans.
“The love that I have received from you all over the last six years has been absolutely surreal. Throughout these years, you, the die-hard fans of Queer Eye, have all shared so many stories with me about how the show has touched your lives, and I could not be more grateful to each and every one of you.”
“To all our wonderful, loving, amazing, and brave heroes, there is so much I want to say and so much gratitude I want to express to you all for letting me into your homes and hearts. I’m so very proud of all of you!”
“It’s with a heavy heart that I announce that season 8 will be my final season on Queer Eye. It’s not been an easy decision to be at peace with, but a necessary one. Although my journey with Queer Eye is over, my journey with you is not. You will be seeing more of me very soon.”
As you can see from the Instagram caption, he seems to have made a tough life decision. After all, leaving Queer Eye had to be one of the hardest choices he had to make.
While the designer didn’t specify exactly why he is leaving the show, it doesn’t seem like he had a bad experience with the production team or fellow participants, so it probably has to do with his health or other professional situation.
Nevertheless, Bobby reassured the fans that he would appear more often on television as a host or as a designer in other shows. It might be a fresh start to the designer’s career in acting, but it definitely seems like a step up in the right direction.
So, what do you think about Bobby Berk’s departure from Queer Eye? Do you believe he is leaving the show to pursue other opportunities?
