Cameras? Ready…. Celebrity and ordinary people strangers? Ready …. An authoritarian voice? Ready…. Millions of viewers? Ready… then why is the TV screen covered with a green course and players trying to hit the hole-in-one? Why is the channel airing golf when it is time for shady, sweet-but-spicy, mindless, and highly entertaining reality TV?
Fans have been anticipating the new season of Big Brother since the last installment ended on September 25, 2022. The reality show ended with a historic win of the first-ever black female, Taylor Hale, to take home a grand prize of $750,000. Her iconic speech is a testament to the turning tides of the Big Brother history of white-dominated houseguests.
Her win catapulted the anticipation for the next season, which CBS renewed in September 2022. People were excited about the diverse lineup of houseguests for season 25 of Big Brother. This season delivered as per the great expectations in its pilot episode.
However, the irony strikes hard early on, after Hale’s grand victory– Big Brother Season 25 contestant Luke Valentine blurted out a racial slur on national television, facing immediate expulsion from the show without viewers’ voting.
Such controversies have been the biggest cash cows for the reality show that linger even after the season ends, like the recent breakup of the Big Brother sweetheart couple, Tyler and Angela.
Needless to say, the show that started in 2000, hosted by Julie Chen Moonves, has reigned over the reality TV scene for over two decades now. Americans have tuned in year after year to watch strangers dish it out in a trapped house and face challenges while abiding by big brother’s laws. While waiting for the latest episode, fans were in splits when CBS aired golf instead.
CBS clarified the late airing of Big Brother’s new episode with their latest tweet, suggesting that the delay in Golf games has postponed the rest of the shows in the lineup. Hence, while fans tuned in for the show at the usual time of 8 p.m. ET on a chill Sunday, the channel was still airing the remaining golf match.
Why Is Golf on Instead of Big Brother?
CBS tweeted a last-minute update on the new timings for the lineup. The channel cited the off-schedule of the golf match as the reason for this delay. According to the reports, the golf event ran way past its scheduled hours. CBS covers golf events live, considering the high stakes of the 2023 St. Jude Championship of the PGA tour.
Given how meticulous these tournaments are, these games can go off the rail regarding timings. Hence, CBS was compelled to keep airing the event while other shows like Big Brother had to be delayed.
Why Is Big Brother Starting So Late?
As seen in the tweet, the other shows were postponed but still definitely scheduled to air that day. Before Big Brother, another show, 60 minutes, is scheduled an hour and 14 minutes late.
Thus, the deduction is that Big Brother aired between 9 to 9:14 p.m. ET. Read here for the full schedule of the episodes.
If you are one of the impatient ones, worry not! You can stream a Big Brother episode on Paramount +. You can also stream the live episodes and get further updates on CBS’s official website.
Fans React To The Big Brother Delay Because Of Golf
Regardless of the minor delay, get ready for an action and drama-packed episode as the latest episode picks up from the last cliffhanger and the nomination looms upon the houseguests.
