They initially believe they’ve parted ways for good, only to find themselves forced to pose as a couple at a destination wedding. 

The film’s trailers have emphasized its raunchy humor, but does its R-rating hinge solely on this aspect?

The Motion Picture Association (MPA) has given “Anyone But You” an R-rating, indicating that it is unsuitable for children due to its sexual content, strong language, and brief graphic nudity. When it was released on December 22, 2023, viewers confirmed the adult nature of the movie. So, the film got an R-rating for its scintillating content.

“Anyone But You” is a romantic comedy directed by Will Gluck, featuring Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell as the lead actors. 

The film follows the story of Bea and Ben, two strangers with a unique first date that takes a sour turn due to a single incident. 

Little do they know, they’ll be forced to pretend to be a couple in love at a destination wedding in Sydney, Australia, despite their mutual dislike for each other.

Trailers for the movie have highlighted its raunchy humor and the on-screen chemistry between Sweeney and Powell. 

The Motion Picture Association (MPA) has given “Anyone But You” an R-rating, indicating that it is unsuitable for children due to its sexual content, strong language, and brief graphic nudity. 

Parents uncomfortable with explicit language and sexual situations may want to steer clear of this film.

The early promotional material for “Anyone But You” didn’t shy away from emphasizing its adult-oriented nature, and released footage confirmed the presence of nude scenes. 

Glen Powell, one of the film’s stars, confirmed that he had filmed a nude scene and humorously remarked that Sydney Sweeney is the only person who has seen him naked. 

It’s evident that the inclusion of nude and scintillating scenes played a significant role in earning the film its R-rating.

When the film was released on December 22, 2023, viewers got to see just what was on offer, and many confirmed that the movie indeed had all the raunchiness and sexiness that was advertised. 

However, many critics said the plot could have been more interesting and exciting. It currently has a 52% critic rating and an 86% audience rating. So, audiences loved the light-hearted story. 

Many even remarked on social media that romcoms were back! So, for viewers seeking a mature romantic comedy with adult humor and content, “Anyone But You” might be an enticing choice. 

Anyone But You is currently playing in theaters.
