From Love Island to 90 Day Fiancé, reality dating shows are a dime a dozen. But they have captured the audience’s attention and love quite like nothing before. After all, the twists and turns in their dating and love lives are so unexpectedly interesting that it can make anyone forget that their popcorn is over.
One of the latest additions to this genre is The Ultimatum: Queer Love. Courtesy of Netflix, this show is a tad bit different from the others in the genre. Other dating shows generally have an overwhelming heterosexual cast. But not this one. As the title says, the show is about non-binary people and queer women.
As such, it’s a great new addition to Netflix’s list for this Pride month. Of the couples featured in the show, Lexi and Rae have captured people’s attention the most. As such, viewers want updates about their current relationship situation.
Warning: The article contains spoilers for The Ultimatum: Queer Love
Lexi and Rae proposed to each other at the end of The Ultimatum: Queer Love. But the reunion revealed that they had broken up after the show. The reason for their breakup was Rae hooking up with Vanessa during their trial marriages. Currently, Lexi is dating Zanc, a photographer, while Rae is single.
The Ultimatum: Queer Love – Lexi and Rae’s Story
The two began dating several years ago, and at the beginning of the show, Lexi gave Rae an ultimatum. Since Rae was unsure if she was ready to marry, the two of them tried out trial marriages. Rae got with Vanessa, and Lexi with Mal. As expected, such an arrangement caused conflict between Rae and Lexi.
The situation escalated because Lexi was vocally expressive about her less-than-favorable emotions for Vanessa. However, by the end, Rae and Lexi found their way to each other. In the end, Rae proposed to Lexi and vice versa. The show ended on a hopeful note as they seemed to be ready for marriage.
But did they actually get married?
Did Lexi and Rae Get Married?
No, Rae and Lexi from The Ultimatum: Queer Love didn’t get married. They were together at the reunion, but there’s a catch. At the end of the reunion special, there’s a black screen that revealed that they had broken up a little while before the reunion got filmed.
Why Did Lexi and Rae Break Up?
The ending of The Ultimatum: Queer Love indicated that Rae and Lexi were in a great place regarding their relationship and were even ready to get married. But things changed after that. Rae revealed that their relationship didn’t work out anymore amid Lexi’s changing lifestyle.
Lexi added that the two of them were struggling to address past issues that had happened when their trial marriage was going on. Even during the show, Lexi was unhappy about Rae and Vanessa hooking up. So let us call a spade a spade and ask- did Rae cheat on Lexi?
The voiceover at the end of the reunion special said that the main reason why they called off their wedding was that Lexi suspected Rae of cheating. However, this wasn’t explicitly mentioned because the actual text on the black screen just revealed that they broke up.
The people who had the ‘English audio description’ option turned on were the only ones who got to know the real reason. So where are Lexi and Rae now?
Are Lexi and Rae Dating Other People?
Lexi mentioned that she is currently in a new relationship. She also said that her current one is better than the previous one with Rae. She told Tudum:
“I found somebody that gives me all of the love and happiness I felt with Mal, mixed with an intimacy that we’re exploring. That’s truly what I always wanted when I knew my relationship with Rae was ending — somebody that made me feel the way I felt when I was with Mal, and we were walking around San Diego calling each other our wives.”
As for Mal, the reality star mentioned that she is still friends with her after the trial marriage. So who is Lexi’s new partner? It’s a photographer called Zanc. She introduced her new partner on TikTok when she went live after the reunion special dropped.
As for Rae, she is currently single and is planning to move to Los Angeles from Orange County soon. Overall, it looks like fans of Lexi and Rae will be disappointed since they have separated.
They didn’t even say if they will remain friends or not, so it’s safe to assume for now that due to all that happened on the show, especially the trial marriages, caused a rift so big that they can’t even be friends. However, each of them is embarking on a new phase of their lives, so it will be interesting to see what the future holds for them.
