The Paramount Network’s neo-Western drama, directed by Kevin Costner for five seasons, depicts John Dutton, the powerful owner of a renowned Montana ranch and the leader of a determined family.
Although the final episodes of the series have yet to commence filming, legal documents reveal that Kevin Costner’s contract with Yellowstone has officially come to an end. Season 5 encountered several obstacles, including production delays and internal disputes, which sparked rumors of Kevin Costner’s unexpected departure from the show.
Why Did Kevin Costner Leave Yellowstone?
Kevin Costner is currently occupied with the production of his second film, as well as his involvement in “Horizon,” a four-movie Western drama that he is co-writing, directing, and starring in.
Due to Horizon’s rigorous filming schedule lasting 220 days, the actor’s calendar is currently packed, and will have to leave Yellowstone. This ambitious project involves multiple films and could take up to eight months to complete. Filming for the first installment commenced in autumn 2022, while the following three parts are slated to begin in April 2023, all being shot simultaneously.
Despite some controversy surrounding his schedule between the movies and his work on “Yellowstone,” showrunner Taylor Sheridan has confirmed no hard feelings. Originally planned as part of a six-part Season 5 finale, James Dutton’s departure from the show depended on the end of the writers’ strike.
However, Sheridan has suggested that the character’s send-off may now be extended, which will surely please fans.
What Is the ‘Yellowstone’ Spin-Off?
Paramount has just announced a new chapter of the drama series “Yellowstone,” which will be a spin-off. The lead role might be played by Matthew McConaughey, currently in the final stages of negotiation.
However, some beloved characters, such as John Dutton and Beth Dutton, might have yet to appear in this new chapter. Additionally, whether the spin-off will occur at the iconic Yellowstone Ranch is still being determined.
While limited details regarding the forthcoming series are available, it is poised to usher in a new era for Yellowstone. Devotees of the Western drama have a lot to look forward to, as McCarthy has disclosed that he and Sheridan are in the midst of developing more than ten other projects.
Is Kevin Costner Divorced?
After 18 years together, Christine Baumgartner has filed for divorce from Kevin Costner, citing “irreconcilable differences.” She has not requested spousal support while seeking shared custody of their three children. Costner has responded by filing for joint custody and expressing his commitment to shared parental responsibility.
As the divorce proceedings continue and they work through the financial and custody issues, Costner has already fulfilled his prenuptial responsibilities by giving Baumgartner over $1.2 million. He has also reportedly offered to pay $30,000 monthly for a rental home as part of his child support duties and an extra $10,000 for moving expenses.
Yellowstone can be streamed on Fubo TV.
