The highly anticipated “Otra Peda 2023” tour launched with a spectacular sold-out performance in Dallas over the weekend. Jesús Ortiz Paz, also known as JOP, the lead singer of the band, was overwhelmed by the concert’s success, repeatedly emphasizing that it was more than just a standard music show but rather a raucous celebration.
However, the euphoria of the evening was marred when JOP, Chino Pacas, and other members of the Calle 24 band were apprehended and detained on charges of possessing weapons.
Given these circumstances, what circumstances led to the artists’ arrest?
Why Did JOP Get Arrested?
JOP, Chino Pacas, and several members of the Calle 24 band were apprehended by law enforcement officials on account of their possession of firearms.
In the early hours of Sunday morning, following their Regional Mexican music concert, two musicians were apprehended by the police at gunpoint. The incident, which occurred after the show, was captured on video and subsequently shared on social media. Moreover, a man traveling with the musicians was later arrested for illegal gun possession.
A video was shared on Instagram by Chino Pacas, where he was seen being handcuffed and pushed against a police car. It turns out that LAPD officers had stopped cars in the Hollywood area between Hawthorn and La Brea avenues. They had drawn their weapons after spotting an individual carrying a gun.
According to the band’s legal representative, there were no charges pressed against them despite being taken into custody and subsequently released after a two-hour detention.
