Let’s find the backstory of the drama between the sportsmen.
In the Wednesday game of the National League Division Series, Bryce Harper stared down Orlando Arcia after Arcia reportedly mocked Harper after Game 2. Following the event, Harper retorted with two home runs and stared down Arcia each time as he rounded second base.
Why Was Harper Looking at Arcia? The Sizzling Drama of NLDS
Fun fact alert, events instigated by mockery often serve as a source of motivation for many people. Well, something similar happened in the game of the National League Division Series. Yet another juicy story from the baseball ground after the Banana makeover. However, it is a bit funny and a bit serious.
Bryce Harper is known for his incredible sportsmanship and gameplay as well. Currently, he is considered one of the best players in baseball. On the other hand, Orlando Arcia, the young talent of the Atlanta Braves, was recently named as a starting shortstop in the National League game.
Both are unique and amazing at their own pace. However, Arcia seems to have stepped a bit out of his line in the Wednesday match against the Philadelphia Phillies.
On 11th October 2023, in the National League Division Series, the Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies were against each other for Game 3. After the Game 2, Harper was placed out of the game. It was the turning point for the Braves as they were coming back into the game. But Arcia seemed overjoyed and reportedly crossed the line while yelling,
“Ha-ha, atta-boy, Harper!”
However, it is still not confirmed that he said these words in Game 3. But, Harper being himself, shot 2 home runs in a 10-2 rout, and with each shot, he stared down at Arcia intensively while rounding the bases. After the staredown, it became obvious that he was aware of what Orlando said.
He said,
“(My teammates) just kind of told me and they looked at me, and they were like, ‘What are you going to do?’”
Harper decided to hit 2 home runs and just stare~
He further continued while expressing his thoughts over Arcia’s action, saying
“It’s a super-competitive game that we play, from both sides of the ball, and I enjoy commentary and things. I listen to WIP and you hear a lot of stuff on there at times and I just enjoy it. It’s a reason why we play this game. There’s nothing like it. Everybody’s competitive that we play against, and I just enjoy those moments and the opportunity to play this game and have those moments.”
Bryce also admitted that he did stare at Orlando and even enjoyed staring; however, he also confirmed that he said nothing to Arcia when rounding the bases. On the other side, in response to the situation, Arcia said through an interpreter that Harper “could look wherever he wanted.”
What a game and what a drama! Fans were enjoying the highlight of the game to bits.
