K-Pop group members are praised for their unwavering commitment to their performances. Their fandoms love the fact that they are always on time and rarely postpone their commitments.
This is why news of a member dropping out or delaying an event sends ripples on the internet. Something similar happened when YG Entertainment announced that Ahyeon would not perform with Baby Monster.
As expected, fans swarmed various news outlets’ comment sections to demand why.
On November 15, 2023, YG Entertainment announced that Ahyeon, who was set to debut with the new girl group Baby Monster on November 27, had left the band. YG said it was because she “decided to focus on her health and rest for the time being due to health reasons.”
Why Will Ahyeon Not Perform With Baby Monster?
On November 15, 2023, YG Entertainment announced that Ahyeon, who was set to debut with Baby Monster, a new girl group, had left the band due to personal reasons. Baby Monster is the first girl group of YG to debut in 7 years since BLACKPINK.
Due to this, the originally 7-member group has become a 6-member group. They will debut in less than two weeks on November 27. Last February, Ahyeon was introduced as a trainee by YG Entertainment.
This news shocked the group’s fandom because many eagerly awaited her full-fledged career as a singer, songwriter, and dancer. After all, Ahyeon was already famous for being a look-alike of BLACKPINK’s Jennie.
But fans want to know why she left the band so close to the debut date.
YG Entertainment revealed that it’s because of health issues. In their statement, they announced:
“Ahyeon, who was preparing to debut with BABYMONSTER, has decided to focus on her health and rest for the time being due to health reasons. This decision was made following careful discussion. We are sorry that we could not introduce Ahyeon as a member of BABYMONSTER, but this decision was made in consideration of the health of the artist. We will spare no support so that Ahyeon can fully recover and return in good health.”
YG also revealed that Ahyeon could rejoin at a later date, but she won’t be having her debut with the others on the team. The members officially debuting are Chiquita, Ruka, Haram, Pharita, Rora, and Asa.
Rora and Haram are from South Korea, while Pharita and Chiquita are from Thailand. The other two, Ruka and Asa, hail from Japan.
Some misinformation has been circulating online, with many saying that Ahyeon is also leaving YG Entertainment. But the official statement doesn’t mention any such departure.
Instead, it says that they will ensure that she recovers well. So, for now, she remains contracted with them.
What do you think of this sudden announcement of Ahyeon not debuting with BABYMONSTER? How will their debut be received without the biggest name of the group- Ahyeon?
