Black Friday is almost here, meaning it is time to empty all those savings to buy your favorite toys at ridiculously low prices, and Squishmallows are often a popular choice among many people around the world.
Since their introduction in 2017, they have grown increasingly popular, and people love having a comfy toy as a companion. However, lately a problem has arisen.
Given the Black Friday sale, the orders of Squishmallows should be going up, but many of them are being canceled instead. Why is this happening?
Apparently, people are canceling Squishmallows orders after finding out that the Jazwares company’s CEO, Judd Zebersky, is supporting Israel in the ongoing war, as evidenced by his LinkedIn post. Those who were in support of Palestine began calling him a Zionist and started boycotting the company’s products.
What Did Jazwares’ CEO Post and Why Are People Cancelling Their Squishmallows Orders?
About a month ago, Judd Zebersky, the CEO and Founder of Jazwares (established in 1997) shared a LinkedIn post expressing his support for the Israeli nation in its war against Palestine.
The post reads as follows:
“We stand firmly with Israel and its right to defend its citizens against the despicable and barbaric actions of Hamas terrorists. Over the past three days, over 900 Israelis were killed, over 100 Israelis kidnapped, and over 2500 Israelis injured. Hamas is a bloodthirsty organization that kidnaps, rapes and kills women, the elderly, and children.”
“I just saw a video of a young lady burned to death in front of a mob of people cheering in Gaza. Make no mistake: Hamas is a terrorist organization with a charter calling for eradicating Israel. It’s a somber reminder of Israel’s genuine and daunting challenges, and our hearts go out to all those affected by such evil.”
While the post was a month ago, not everyone knew it then because LinkedIn is a space where people share job updates and other inspirational content, so there is less chance of it going viral.
Since Black Friday deals are open now, those who ordered the Squishmallows eventually learned about the company’s founder supporting Israel.
While there are many who purchased it despite knowing he supports Israel, likely people on the same side, customers who stand with Palestine, started canceling their orders.
In fact, they labeled the company’s founder, Zebersky, a Zionist who supported the Israeli ideology and started boycotting his products, swearing that they would never buy the company’s products anymore.
How Did Netizens React to the Company’s Support of Israel?
There are always two sides to a war, and both suffer to an extent despite one of the countries staying dominant. So, there are always people with different ideologies who show support based on them.
After learning that the founder of Jazwares, who makes the Squishmallows, is in support of Israel, the supporters of Palestine took to X and expressed their disappointment, claiming that he chose the country that endorses mass genocide.
Here are some honest reactions from the X users who did not hold back in criticizing the company’s CEO:
So, what do you think about the whole situation of boycotting Squishmallows? Do you think this negative influence will affect the image of the company?
