Busking in the streets under the night sky and watching people appreciate your art is one of the most satisfying and validating feelings for an artist.
Andrew Shoe is a musician who first started showcasing his talent on TikTok. The platform proved to be a great incentive for exposure. Gradually, he amassed a considerable engagement on his account.
To practice his live performances, Andrew started busking in moderately busy places. He quickly grabbed eyeballs with his piano as people were compelled to pause their steps and listen to his beautiful music.
On one such night, Andrew was peacefully playing his piano on one corner of the sidewalk. But no one could have imagined what followed next.
Sometime later, Andrew Shoe uploaded a video on his TikTok channel that boiled the internet’s blood. The viral video has since garnered over 1.3 million views. Here’s what happened–
On September 25, 2023, while Andrew was busking in Athens, Georgia, a woman was first seen slamming her hand on his piano. The two girls, already enjoying his performance, condemned the woman, and she went away. But then she was seen on the video the second time. She again slammed on the piano, and this time, his entire set fell apart. She was initially seen saying sorry to TheAndrewShoe while her two friends were seen laughing in the background. But as she was leaving, she stole money from his bucket. A few people gathered on the scene and booed the woman, while a couple of them helped Andrew with his piano. The internet excavated the woman’s identity and revealed it to be a Georgian woman, Tommanesha Shauntae Heard, who was previously arrested for theft and fraud in November 2022.
Who Is Shauntae Heard?
Shauntae Heard hails from Georgia, reportedly living in the downtown area. As a general assumption, she was exposed to an environment of misdemeanors. Per the Georgia Gazette report, Clarke County apprehended Heard on November 25, 2022, for ‘theft of lost or mislaid property’ and ‘financial transaction card fraud.’
After the shameful incident, the TikTok community foraged Heard’s social handles and finally found her account, @atl.minit.Some. Some netizens also dug into her Facebook and Instagram accounts, but all were deleted.
Shaunte was seen in the video with two of her friends, apparently having a girl’s night out.
What Did Shauntae Heard Do?
On the night of September 25, 2023, Andrew Shoe was busking in Athens, Georgia, with two girls already beside him, enjoying his performance. A third woman enters the frame in a black dress, and out of nowhere, she slams her hand on the piano while Andrew is playing. In a voiceover, Andrew comments that–
“So this kind of stuff happens here and there so I usually just keep playing through it.”
The two girls immediately yell “No” after the woman intrudes his space. The crass woman was confirmed to be Shauntae Heard.
She again returns to the scene and does the same shameful act. But this time, Andrew’s station collapses, and the expensive piano falls to the ground. In the video, you can see Shauntae’s shocked face as she wasn’t expecting this to happen.
For a brief moment, you feel she has remorse for her actions. But in the very next second, she proves her audacity and stupidity. She is clearly caught on camera stealing money from Andrew’s bucket that he earned throughout the night. Andrew calls her out instantly, but she seems to have run away out of frame.
The witnesses gathered around Andrew and started booing the woman. Some of them helped Andrew get his setup back up. While one man was seen putting money in his bucket, to which Andrew comments in the voiceover that it restored his humanity.
“Shoutout to the guy that tipped me after and all of the people that came and helped me out after seeing what happened.”
“It really restores my faith in humanity.”
But the internet wasn’t ready to let this go so easily. After Shauntae’s identity was revealed, netizens blasted the woman for her behavior.
Shauntae Heard: The New Champion of Half-Ass Apology
Colleen Ballinger is the undisputed queen of abominable apology. Who would have thought that apologizing for mistakes would be such a challenge for narcissists?
Shauntae Heard has proved that she is a master deflector. She posted an apology on her social account but soon deleted it. However, once on the internet, it becomes immortal– someone screenshot the apology, which was indeed one of the cringiest attempts.
The bottom line of this statement is:
- “Sorry that you felt bad.”
- Worse things have happened to other people.
- Implication: “I am the victim because my family is harassed.”
- Fallacy: “I didn’t steal any money. I didn’t break the piano.”
This only infuriated the internet even more, given that the lady clearly has insufficient brain capacity to understand what she did wrong and has less than-expected remorse.
Heard later issued another apology to Andrew and mentioned that Andrew had accepted her apology, as shown in the following text message, where Andrew replied–
“Hey, I accept your apology. I told people not to harass you, but I can’t control what happens so that was my way of trying not to have people come at you. However, you have to know that actions have consequences, and while I feel bad that people are harassing you, you’ve got to own up.”
Despite Heard’s hostile actions, Andrew’s maturity in handling the situation with grace and forgiveness teaches us how kindness can conquer cruelty.
What is your take on the video? Would you accept Shauntae’s apology? Do you think Shauntae should be legally punished for destroying someone’s property?
