American radio host Mike Calta was seen verbally and physically harassing a woman during an autograph signing event. The celebrated host is currently facing severe backlash for his conduct and mistreatment of the unknown woman.
A video that captured the entire heated conversation has gone viral on X, formerly Twitter, as it shows Calta taking away a woman’s phone and cussing at her. The woman is taken aback and tries to get her phone back when the RJ becomes violent. The bodyguards seem to be separating her from Calta.
Calta’s behavior has been abhorred by social media users, as no one expected this out of the famous host.
Who Is Mike Calta?
Mike Calta, whose real name is Mike Oliviero, is the radio host at 102.5-FM. He is from Tampa Bay, Florida, and is formerly known as Cowhead. He has been an RJ since 2007 and has since secured his position as one of the leading hosts.
Calta began his career in 1992 in Tampa, Florida, where he worked as an intern for the Top 40 channel 93.3 WFLZ. In 2006, he became the host of The Cowhead Show, which different guest hosts attended. In 2014, the show was rebranded to The Mike Calta Show. He signed a multi-year contract with Cox Media Group and decided to stay at 102.5-FM “The Bone.”
According to the Calta Family Foundation website, “ Mike is a big fan of music, sports, and spending time at local events and fundraisers when he isn’t spending time with his family.”
Why Did Mike Calta Punch a Woman?
In the video that has surfaced, Mike is seen yelling obscenities at a woman, shoving her away, taking her phone, and then punching her when she tried to fight back. However, what caused Mike to be so aggressive towards her is still unclear.
The violent exchange occurred at a Florida gun store where Mike’s autograph signing event took place. An unidentified woman started recording Calta on her phone while holding some papers. Calta’s next words are: “How pathetic is your life that you are fighting the fight?”
The woman, in turn, asks Mike how pathetic his life is. Calta responds, “Honestly …how pathetic…my life is not pathetic.” He then tells the woman to turn her camera around. Without waiting for a response, he dives for the phone and holds it up to show the crowd. He quips, “These people are here to see me.”
Next, the flabbergasted woman attempts to get her phone back while claiming that Calta does not have permission to take it from her, as it’s her property. Mike does not give it back, making the lady reach over to grab it.
Mike warns her that if she doesn’t back away from him, he is going to “kick the s**t out of” her. As the woman continues to get her phone back, Calta shoves her away pretty hard and tries to do something with the phone. All the while, he cusses at the woman.
As the exchange went viral, it became pretty obvious that Calta would receive massive backlash from the situation. People have condemned him for his violent behavior that was uncalled for. However, the woman’s role in the whole situation still needs some clarity.
