“Just one ray of sunshine is enough to dispel millions of shadows!”
Jenny Apple is the embodiment of the hopeful ray, as the YouTuber shared her beautiful life with over 150K subscribers. Jenny’s channel, launched in 2015, has been a source of family content where people resonated with her values and gentle parenting while being the sweetest bean.
She documented her life and her journey to motherhood with her very supportive husband, Kyle. Jenny Apple made her channel a safe space, showing her healthy vegan lifestyle, making memories with her small family, and sharing advice with young mothers.
Unlike the other toxic family channels, ahem… Ruby Franke, Jenny Apple displayed patience, love, and respect and promoted a healthy family dynamic.
But one piece of news changed the course of the family…
On October 29, 2023, YouTuber and mother of two Jenny Appleford uploaded a live stream titled “I’m Dying,” where she explained how the inoperable stage IV lung cancer has reached beyond the critical phase. The doctors told her in July that she has approximately 5-6 months. Jenny was first diagnosed with lung cancer as a non-smoker in March 2021. Since then, she has been documenting her battle with cancer. Jenny’s sister, Ashley Horton, set up a GoFundMe page with a goal of $100,000 but has amassed over $150,000 so far.
Who Is Jenny Apple?
Jenny Appleford is married to Kyle, and together, they share two beautiful kids: a son, Eliss, and a daughter, Winnie. Jenny first started uploading on YouTube in 2015, when family channels were dominating the algorithm. Although the channel had a humble following, Jenny posted content that created a sense of community among her subscribers.
During the early years of her channel, she vlogged her journey of motherhood when she was pregnant with her eldest.
People loved her content, which showed the vulnerability of being a new mother. Meanwhile, her husband Kyle played a monumental role in shaping the family, as he supported his wife every step of the way.
After the birth of their two children, Jenny vlogged their daily lives in California while promoting a healthy vegan lifestyle. Her content evolved every year as her children grew before her eyes, and the viewers loved to tune into her little world.
But after five years, their lives were about to change….
When Was Jenny Apple Diagnosed?
Jenny Apple announced in April that she was diagnosed with Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (Adenocarcinoma). She was first diagnosed a month earlier, in March 2021, when she was just 33.
Ever since then, Jenny has been documenting her treatment progress, but it eventually led to a gradual decline in her health as the cancer was slowly spreading to some of her lymph nodes and brain.
She lost her hair to the treatment and became severely pale and weak in just two years. However, Kyle and her two children were her pillar of strength in these challenging times. And now it seems Jenny is mustering all her courage to say her final goodbyes.
How Is Jenny Apple Doing Today? Latest Update on Jenny’s GoFundMe
On October 20, Jenny went on a livestream to discuss her latest update on stage IV lung cancer as she was admitted to the hospital due to several complications.
During the live, Jenny’s heartbreaking voice said–
“I have bad news, guys. I’m dying – like I’m actually dying right now.
“I’m so scared. I don’t know what to do.”
She said she was concerned more about her kids, who are not yet ready to cope with their mother leaving, especially her 4-year-old daughter Winnie, who is too young to comprehend the meaning of death and losing her mother.
Kyle also confirmed that these might be Jenny’s last few days, considering the doctors advised her to be put on a ventilator. But Jenny declined to be on the ventilator support because of her friend’s past experience under similar conditions–
“I had a friend do that, and she was in misery.
“She was posting that it was absolutely terrible, and she hated it.
“She was just tubed to a machine and had like this big thing on her head and she couldn’t breathe.”
Kyle said in the live–
“She’s here, and she can’t go home.
“We wanted to be at home if we ever got this news but we unfortunately can’t they think if we tried to transfer her home she might not make it.”
Meanwhile, Jenny also expressed her wish that Kyle should remarry after her death and choose the best for their kids. The couple had already informed their kids about Jenny’s condition, and Ellis hangs by the hope of miracles for his mother.
Kyle stated that he supported his wife’s decision to tell the kids the truth, saying–
“It takes a lot of courage to be honest with them because it’s a scary thing to say, but this is the route, and I’m glad we did it.”
Jenny’s sister Ashley Horton set up a GoFundMe page for Jenny that has garnered over $154,000 in donations.
