Jenna Ellis’s appointment as Trump’s “constitutional law attorney” raised many questions. After examining her background, the doubts became increasingly severe.
Ellis prosecuted theft, assault, and other related crimes when she started out and soon took a position with James Dobson at Colorado Christian University. She even appeared on Denver radio as a legal commentator. However, none of her experiences could measure up to her position on Trump’s side.
Despite her lack of relevant experience for the position, she could project authority as Trump’s attorney. Despite calling herself an expert on the Constitution, she has never appeared in deferral district or circuit court, where constitutional matters are most considered.
Let’s find out how her support for Trump played out for her career:
Who Is Jenna Ellis?
Jenna Ellis is an American conservative lawyer and former member of Trump’s legal team. She has presented herself as a “constitutional law attorney” despite many reports that her background did not reflect any such expertise.
Ellis was hired by Trump in 2019 as a senior legal adviser. She became a member of what she called an “elite strike force team” from 2020-21 that made efforts to overturn Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 presidential elections.
The attorney made false claims that Trump was the actual winner and drafted two false memos asserting Mike Pence coils change the results.
Jenna Ellis and Indictment
Trump’s ex-attorney has found herself in knee-deep trouble after the recent indictment targeting Trump and his efforts to overturn the Georgia election results. According to the indictment: “Trump and the other Defendants charged in this Indictment refused to accept that Trump lost, and they knowingly and willfully joined a conspiracy to unlawfully change the outcome of the election in favor of Trump.”
Some of the notable figures among the 19 defendants are Jenna Ellis, Mark Meadows, Rudy Giuliani, Sidney Powell, and John Eastman. Former US Department of Justice officer Jeffrey Clark and several Trump aides also count among the defendants. Not to forget Donald Trump himself.
The defendants are accused of making false statements to persuade officials to reject lawful votes. This would lead to the selection of a slate of electors loyal to Trump, ignoring the victory of Joe Biden in the state.
Additionally, they are accused of traveling to the state to harass an election worker by intimidating her to a false confession of election crimes that she never committed.
Being one of the former members of Trump’s legal team, Ellis also faced indictment. She has been charged with two counts of solicitation of violation of oath by a public officer and of violating Georgia’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act. Reports that Trump has refused to provide her financial assistance for the indictment’s legal fees have surfaced.
The charges are at the state level, meaning that if the frontrunner, Trump, is found guilty, then he cannot pardon himself or his companions if reelected in 2024.
Ellis posted a crowdfunding campaign link on X, formerly Twitter, and has already raised close to $14,000 by Wednesday. Potential donors can see the following message on the crowdfunding site: “Jenna Ellis, former senior legal adviser and personal counsel to President Trump, is being targeted, and the government is trying to criminalize the practice of law.”
Jenna Ellis was also censured in March by Colorado legal officials as she admitted to making ten misrepresentations when Trump attempted to stay in power despite losing the 2020 presidential election.
