Robert Smith is the leading singer of the British band, The Cure and is the only consistent member. As you can expect, the accusation has created a ripple of disgust and disbelief among the fans.
The person claiming to be the victim is Milka Sklar, an artist born in 1970 who reportedly published a fanzine for The Cure. Her allegations have come under severe scrutiny as one inconsistency after another is being discovered with her narration.
Who Is Danielle Sklar Aka Milka?
Milka recently accused Robert Smith, the lead singer of the band The Cure, of grooming her when she was 14 years old. According to multiple reports, Milka’s real name is Danielle Sklar. On her LinkedIn profile, Sklaar is listed as a registrar at the University of Washington. She is also listed as the National Field Events Coordinator for a non-profit.
What Is The Cure’s Robert Smith Accused of?
Milka Sklar posted a video presenting a compilation of chat screenshots where various grooming tactics by Robert Smith have been discussed. Milka confessed that she had even confronted Robert about it later and had to go through therapy for a long time before she could open up about it.
Milka described the problematic behavior she had faced, including Robert falling asleep on top of her and making her uncomfortable. He would apparently make food by spitting out chewed ingredients and cooking with them, which he would later force the victim to eat.
According to the chats, Robert would make Milka and another person fight over him as he thought it was hilarious.
At the time of the incident, Milka claimed to be 14 years old and even stated that some of the singers’ tracks, like ‘Last Dance’ or ‘Why Can’t I Be You’, were based on their relationship.
Are the Allegations Against Robert Smith True?
At the time of writing this article, the allegations against Robert Smith have not been proven to be true. Fans of Robert Smith have gathered to collect evidence against Milka, stating that the alleged victim’s age is 37, not 50. If she is indeed 37, then she would have been a mere toddler during the time she said she was being groomed.
Some social media users have also accused Milka of being a groomer herself. TikToker @mars_attacks13 came out with her story of how Milka attempted to invite them to an Amsterdam concert and even called them ‘very handsome’ in a text message.
However, if @mars_attacks13’s allegation is true, then Milka is indeed older and in her 50s, which is more in line with the age she has stated in her testimony against Smith.
Some other accounts state that the girl in the pictures with Robert isn’t even Milka, and she is just creating a story for clout. She could not have confronted Robert in 2016 since The Cure never played at Bottle Rock during that time.
All in all, it is very hard to prove anything against any party due to the lack of evidence. While there is a possibility that Milka is indeed a victim, fans have pointed out several inconsistencies in her story that don’t add up.
On the other hand, many want to support her as she claims to be a victim of sexual assault. Just because Robert Smith is a celebrity does not mean he cannot commit a crime. At the same time, it is also very easy to hate celebrities without knowing the whole truth.

Since they ran a fanzine of course there are some pictures but there are tons of pictures with fans, and this all sounds like someone with an unhealthy obsession with a celebrity that prompted them to make up far fetched claims in order to get attention from the public and the celebrity. Long story short: people shouldn’t knee jerk cancel anyone off of a TikTok video posted by a teenager (who was not even the “victim” in question).

I’m honestly just sick of this whole idea that people can say whatever they want and get people blacklisted. Humans have begun to believe that everyone that claims to be a “victim” is indeed a victim. And that’s not only harmful to those falsely accused, but to actual survivors of sexual abuse, etc. There has to be a return to normalizing evidence and not taking everyone screaming “I’m a victim” at their word. It’s awful to have to say this, and I put myself in a precarious position by doing so, but in a world where someone only has to press keys on a phone or keyboard to destroy someone’s reputation, something has to give. I don’t just feel this way because it’s Robert and the Cure, but this does give me enough reason to vent these frustrations about this social climate of ruination and cancellation. I’m so tired of people (mostly men) not getting a fair shake because of this ultra sensitive climate we seem to live in. People shouldn’t have to live in fear that something derogatory and false will be said about them and they will have to try to dig out of that hole. It’s so hard to prove you HAVEN’T done anything wrong in a world where people automatically believe accusations. What gets me about all of this is that as long as the Cure has been around, there has never been anything said like this to my knowledge. It honestly just seems to me that someone is desperate for attention and overly bored. Shame on those people for playing victim when there are so many true victims trying to survive every day.
If Robert admits to wrongdoing, I’ll change my tone. Until then, I’ll consider it unreliable rumor.
