Fun Fact: “Just like young children, monkeys have a high IQ.”
Well, it somehow explains the notorious yet adoring behavior of our little friend George. This guy is curious about everything in this world, and maybe that’s why he is named “Curious George.”
Yes! We are talking about the adorable monkey friend who seems to have a ride full of adventure with the yellow-hat man.
Even though George is a monkey, he has a special place in the heart of every kid. We can bet even adults love him because nobody can resist this bundle of cuteness with a pinch of chaos. That sounds like a perfect introduction for George. But, there is someone we are forgetting, Yes! The narrator.
In the cartoon “Curious George,” the narrator had a very heart-touching yet youthful voice. Yes, voices. The series was narrated by William H. Macy in season 1, and the rest was narrated by Rino Romano. Rino is the iconic voice that made us laugh and seemed to be a part of various legendary roles.
Exploration of the Animated Television Series
Curious George is an American animated TV series that was launched in 2006. The animated series was adapted from the book series of the same name. Curious George was produced by Universal Studios Family Productions, Imagine Entertainment, and WGBH-TV. Later on, it was animated by Toon City.
George was created by a Rey couple, Hans Rey and Margret Rey. The character was created on the nerve of saddening reality. The couple created it during the Nazi’s rule in Germany. But, the couple escaped and settled in the USA. There, they started publishing books about George, and in the blink of an eye, it was a massive success.
George is shown as a monkey who is often troubled by his curiosity. Whatever he finds interesting, he just jumps on it and tries to sense it, touch it, and even taste it. Little George seems like a pack of trouble and joy for his fellow jungle mates. Either he made everyone laugh around him or angry, nothing in between.
In the series, we have various important characters other than George. The main will be today’s highlight:
- Curious George, voiced by Frank Welker.
- The man with the Yellow hat, voiced by Jeff Bennett. He is George’s favorite person. The man helps in helping and mentoring, just like a parent and a teacher.
- Narrators, William H. Macy (till season 1) and Rino Romano (from season 1 to 15). They gave the extra side effects and feelings to the whole scenario around George and the “Yellow hat man.”
- Steve and Besty, the cute duo and siblings of George.
The series is one of the most celebrated and hit works in the animation world. It also got the prestigious award of “Outstanding Children’s Animated Program” in two years, 2008 and 2010. An animated film was also aired in the year of 2009 with the name Curious George: A Very Monkey Christmas.
The Tingling Voice in the Narration
In any cartoon or animated movie, narration plays a very vital role. A voice that can serve the emotions right and can keep the viewers on their toes is the best match for it. But wait, did it just sound like Rino Romano and William H. Macy? Well, yes! They are the voices behind the series of George.
William H. Macy worked as a narrator only for season 1, but Rino played the whole game till season 15. Rino’s voice can be heard in iconic shows like “Roughnecks: The Starship Trooper Chronicles, Spaceballs: The Animated Series, Spider-Man Unlimited, The Batman,” and the saga continues. He made George more special by his youthful tactics in voicing as a narrator, making the show enjoyable, even today.
