Despite retiring from Tennis in 2020, Caroline Wozniacki announced that she will be back to play the sport again earlier this month. While many fans of Tennis may have concerns regarding her retirement period and personal reasons, many believe it was due to her starting a new family in 2019.
While it was partly true, she also had other few undisclosed reasons for stepping out of the game, but since she will be back on the court in a few days, many have also shown immense interest in her family, such as her husband and kids.
So, to clarify everyone’s doubts, the former tennis player, Caroline Wozniacki, who was ranked world No. 1 in singles for 71 weeks during the 2010 and 2011 years, was engaged to the former NBA player David Lee in 2017, and two years later, they tied the knot in Italy.
Who Is David Lee?
David Lee is a former professional basketball player who started his career by playing in college for Florida Gators. Later, he was drafted by the New York Knicks in 2005 and spent five seasons there before transferring to the Golden State Warriors.
Although he had a few more transfers after 2010, such as the Dallas Mavericks, San Antonio Spurs, and Boston Celtics, he eventually became a free agent and retired in 2017. In 2010 and 2013, with the Golden State Warriors, the player became a two-time NBA All-Star as well as an NBA Champion in 2015.
During his 12-year spanning career, which amounted to 12 seasons in the league, David Lee has apparently made 92 million dollars in earnings, which is incredibly impressive given his constant transfers.
While his sports career was quite impressive, many people are unaware of his television appearances, which only added to his fame as a popular basketball player. His first appearance on TV was in 2007 when he participated in the Family Feud of “NBA Players vs. NBA Mothers” to raise money for the charity.
His other cameos in movies and TV shows include Lipstick Jungle in 2008, NBC’s Celebrity Apprentice in 2009, and the 2009 movie When in Rome.
How Did David Lee and Caroline Wozniacki Meet?
Before they realized they were destined for each other, David and Wozniacki were introduced to each other by their friends at a party in Miami. What began as a simple first meeting turned into a series of dates that tremendously grew their love for each other.
While they constantly respected each other’s personal space, they also spent a lot of time together, even going as far as showing up to support each other from the stands during their respective tournaments.
After their happy marriage in 2019, Lee and Wozniacki had two kids: a daughter named Olivia and a son named James. Apparently, that changed everything for Wozniacki as she decided to achieve something remarkable off the court and retire from Tennis.
Their parenting life went incredibly well as they loved their children from the bottom of their hearts, with Lee being the best dad they could ever get and Wozniacki being the best mom who constantly strives for the well-being of her husband and children.
In June 2023, Wozniacki posted an Instagram post praising Lee for being the best partner for her and the father to their children. In her words,
