Anthony Tyrone “Tony” Evans Sr., born on September 10, 1949, is an American Christian pastor, speaker and author. Evans is also a widely recognized radio and television broadcaster.
Dr. Tony is a regular server of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship in Dallas, Texas. As the senior pastor of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship in Dallas, Texas, he leads a congregation of over 9,500 members.
At the age of 24, Tony was approached by a radio show producer from Houston’s KHCB in 1973. The encounter was supported by Tony’s professor at Dallas Theological Seminary, where he pursued his ThM program. In 1976, Tony founded Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship with just 10 members meeting at his home.
In 1981, Tony, along with his wife Lois, founded “The Urban Alternative,” a national organization dedicated to spreading hope through the words of God.
The ministry was formed due to rising requests for his speeches on Houston and Dallas radio broadcasts. Mrs. Lois Evans’ business insight played a pivotal part in boosting the ministry’s reach.
The year 1986 was marked as a pivotal moment for the family. Tony Evans was invited to sermonize at the National Religious Broadcasters annual conference. This significantly boosted his profile and expanded his radio broadcasts nationwide.

Dr. Lois Irene Evans was Dr. Tony Evans’s wife, who passed away in 2019. Tony and Lois were married for nearly 50 years until Lois’s death. Dr. Lois Evans was known for her role as the “First Lady of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship” and “Vice-President of The Urban Alternative.”
Together, they were blessed with four children, Chrystal, Priscilla, Anthony Jr., and Jonathan. Their family has grown to include 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Lois played a very prominent part in Tony’s life; she worked on developing the ministry. Lois Evans was also honored with the ‘Good Samaritan Award’ in 1995.

On September 10, 2023, Dr. Tony Evans announced his engagement to his new life partner, Dr. Carla Crummie. The announcement was made on the 74th birthday of the pastor while he was serving for Sunday service.

Dr. Carla Crummie is a Christian therapist who is also working as the “Kindness Ambassador” of The Urban Alternative. Before getting engaged to Tony Evans, Carla was married to Dr. Robert W. Crummie. Her husband passed away in 2020. As of today, both Dr. Tony Evans and Dr. Carla Crummie are engaged to each other.
