The highly anticipated live-action series of the famous manga One Piece has finally arrived. With the arrival of Monkey D. Luffy and his crew of Straw Hat Pirates, the series features real-life actors based on the characters envisioned by Eiichiro Oda.

How Many Episodes Are There In One Piece Live-Action?
Ardent fans of the One Piece franchise need not worry thinking how the Netflix series would show the story of 1000 episodes and many volumes of the Manga. Interestingly enough, the series was announced as an eight-part live-action series by Netflix.
The first season has garnered significant attention for its faithful interpretation of the source material. What also caught everyone’s attention was the changed intro in every episode.
While each episode of the anime series was around 22 minutes long, the Netflix adaptation of One Piece is around an hour long. The long runtime gives enough room for character development, intricate plotlines, and breathtaking action sequences in the series.

Who Plays Luffy In The Netflix Live-Action?
Tracing back to the origin of the series’ protagonist, the story was all about Luffy. He gained rubber powers by eating the Gum-Gum devil fruit as a child, and later, he aspires to become the King of the Pirates. When the Netflix adaptation was announced, everyone was excited to hear who would play the role of Money D. Luffy. With all that, it was Iñaki Godoy who was announced to play the Monkey D. Luffy.
During a conversation with Teen Vogue, the lead actor of the series shared his meeting with the creator of the manga, Eiichiro Oda. When Iñaki Godoy asked the manga icon, “Why me? Why did you like me?”, “ODA said, I made him laugh in my audition.”
In the past, the actor was also associated with another Netflix project, The Imperfects, where he played Juan Ruiz.
What Is The Budget For One Piece Live-Action?
To bring justice to the world adapted from Japan’s highest-selling title in history, Netflix did not hesitate to spend money on the One Piece Live-Action series. Reportedly, it was costlier than HBO’s Game of Thrones.
According to reports, the cost of producing each episode of the series surpasses that of the episodes of the fantasy universe created by George R.R. Martin.
With all that, the financial allocation for crafting individual episodes of the One Piece adaptation is said to be around $17 million. Surprisingly enough, the first season, with 8 episodes, is said to be at least $144 million, which is about $40 million more than what the anime it’s based on has spent in over two decades on the air.
During Netflix’s Geeked Week, the showrunners Steve Maeda and Matt Owens also showed off the massive pirate ship sets being built for the live-action One Piece show.
