And to add to the roster of legendary hosts, Michael Strahan was a breeze of fresh air to the morning show. Michael Strahan, the former NFL star who has been in the pop-culture circuit ever since his retirement as a professional athlete, was a GMA favorite alum. However, Strahan has been on a hiatus for the past few days, raising concerns among viewers on whether he would be resuming as the host of the morning slot.
Strahan is missing from GMA because he is currently busy with his duties as a father since his twins Sophia and Isabella are enrolled at Duke and USC, respectively, and is dealing with some personal family matters. He has also been a host on several other shows on the network while founding his own skincare line. Hence, Strahan has been missing from the GMA.ย
Why Is Michael Strahan Absent From Good Morning America?
Playing for the defensive end of the New York Giants, Michael Strahan has established himself in the Football Hall of Fame. After retiring from the NFL, the handsome NFL star found himself in the pop culture zeitgeist as he was quickly roped in to host some of the most prominent sportscasts on Fox News.
Then, he completely moved past the sport’s shadow and used his charm on the more pop-culture news.
After Regis Philbin, the legendary veteran host in the entertainment industry, left the show, Ms. Kelly Ripa needed a charismatic host to match her elegance and congeniality. Strahan’s name was making rounds in several media houses because of his likeability factor.
Soon, Strahan was roped in as the regular host after he showed his charm as a guest host on the show. The “Live With Kelly And Michael” surged in ratings, and people loved the duo.
After a few years, he left the show and joined as a regular on Good Morning America. Viewers were again enthralled with Strahan and loved him as the host.
However, recently, Strahan had too much on his hands as the host of The $100,000 Pyramid and starting his own skincare line.
These commitments might have contributed to his decision to leave the show. But the main reason for his absence from the show was his fatherly duties as his 19-year-old twins, Sophia and Isabella, are going to college. As per reports, he has taken time off to attend to his children.
Who Is Replacing Michael Strahan on GMA?
Robin Roberts, George Stephanopolous, and Michael Strahan were considered a solid team, with stellar ratings on Good Morning America. But after the October 23, 2023 tapings, viewers missed the empty seat.
Strahan was MIA from GMA, raising concerns about whether he would ever return to show. But with a sigh of relief to the fans, Strahan might return to GMA after his hiatus. Up until then, Rebecca Jarvis will be replacing Michael Strahan on Good Morning America.
