Now that the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strike is over, fans of various shows are asking when their beloved TV productions will return.
Of course, Cobra Kai fans are on this list as well. After all, season 6 of the Netflix show will be its last. So many are impatiently waiting for it to begin.
But how long will they have to wait?
Cobra Kai season 6 was renewed in January 2023 and will probably premiere on Netflix in late 2024 or early 2025. The creators began penning the scripts in February 2023 but had to stop due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Now that they are over, production will probably start in early 2024.
When Is Cobra Kai Season 6 Releasing?
Cobra Kai season 6 was announced in January 2023. The creators, Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg, confirmed that it would be the last one of the series.
Jon Hurwitz confirmed on Twitter/ X that writers had begun penning the scripts of the last season from February 2023 itself. However, it doesn’t look like they got too far along before the WGA strike began.
Hurwitz said back when the strike started:
“We hate to strike, but if we must, we strike hard. Pencils down in the Cobra Kai writers room. No writers on set. These aren’t fun times, but it’s unfortunately necessary. The moment a fair deal is in place, we’ll get back to kicking ass.”
In April, Ralph Macchio, who plays Daniel LaRusso, said he hadn’t read any script yet for season 6. He also revealed at the February 2023 Atlanta Comic-Con that production was slated to begin in May 2023 before the strikes began.
When the WGA strike ended in September, Hurwitz confirmed to fans that the Cobra Kai writing team would soon return to penning the last season’s scripts.
Now, it’s possible that the writing isn’t over yet, as we haven’t got many updates after that. But now that the SAG-AFTRA strike has concluded (from November 8), the production team will be getting ready to begin filming soon.
It typically takes eight months to film a whole season. So, if production begins in December 2023 or January 2024, an early 2024 release is out of the question. But a late 2024 release is possible, although that seems optimistic right now as well. However, season 6 of Cobra Kai will begin streaming in early 2025.
What Will Be The Cast of Cobra Kai Season 6?
Here’s the possible returning cast of season 6 of Cobra Kai:

What Will Season 6 of Cobra Kai Be About?
Fans think that season 6 will give most of the prominent couples a happy ending. We already saw Tory, Robby, Sam, and Miguel get back together at the tail end of season 5.
Also, with Carmen and Johnny’s relationship getting more serious, they could welcome a baby in the last season. There will also be a storyline or reference to Johnny struggling with fatherhood. But he will likely do a better job the second time around.
Kreese has escaped prison. He will probably be one of the main storylines of the last season, and we will see him going after Silver for revenge. Also, Daniel and Johnny made amends in season 5, so it will be curious to see how their relationship pans out.
The show is ending on the terms of its creators rather than due to an abrupt Netflix cancelation. But no one is leaving out the possibility of future spin-offs. The creators wrote on Twitter/X:
“This fandom is the BEST on the planet, and we hope to be telling more Karate Kid stories with you down the line. Because, as we all know, Cobra Kai Never Dies.”
So, a spin-off announcement could be in the future. After all, a new Karate Kid film with Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio has been announced, and they are looking to cast a new hero.
It will be interesting to see who becomes the next Karate Kid!
Seasons 1 to 5 of Cobra Kai are now streaming on Netflix.
