They mentioned that they did this only when the FBI had proper permission (something called “warrants”) to search the property of the person. It was also revealed that this person was linked to the attacks that happened on January 6 at the United States Capitol.
The Liberty Safe further tried to explain their actions to society. They said they didn’t know all the details about what the FBI was looking for when they gave them the codes. But it seems like the explanation was not enough because the customers and people who support the right to own guns didn’t like this one bit.
