The Wagner group is the new threat to the world, now breathing down Russia’s neck. The group has been around for 10 years. Its forces have appeared in many places, such as Syria, Mali, and Mozambique.
The Wagner group has recently been getting much attention due to their actions. The group was called a proxy for the Russian government.
Now, answering the obvious question, what is the Wagner group? They are a small mercenary group that eventually grew into cannon fodder. The party succeeded in Russia as a Private Military Company (PMC). However, they have declared war on the country, blaming its army for orchestrating an attack against them.
Is the Wagner Group Capable of Taking on Russia?
The Wagner group is secretive and hard to define. Basically, they are paid for sending their armed personnel to different countries. They are probably nothing more than mercenaries, but that term’s definition does not quite encompass everything the Wagner group does. A better description for the Wagner group is PMC – a Private Military Company.
The Wagner group is a group of financial intermediaries, companies, and other organizations that are all linked together, making their scope of work difficult to understand.
The reason for having an extensive scope of work is to remain unaccountable for their actions. Yevgeny Prigozhin is the creator of the Wagner group. Interestingly, the headquarters of the group is located in Russia.
How can a Russian company declare war against its country? To know the answer to this question, we will have to go back to when the Wagner group was first detected – Ukraine in 2014.
They gradually grew and are presently active in eight countries. In Syria, Wagner is supporting the president. In Venezuela, the group is working with Russian allies and the government of Syria. Apart from many countries, the Wagner group has established itself in Africa.
The Wagner group has taken over many Diamond mines in Africa. This is what they actually do. They offer muscle power to the countries in exchange for such mines or money.
Well, that is not all! It has political interests aligned with its trades too. All this makes the Wagner group a strong army, but can it take on Russia?
Russia has many arsenals that many countries have not even heard of. Countries like the U.S. try to pick a non-violent side with Russia owing to their majestic army and collection of warcraft and arsenals. So, to answer whether the Wagner group, with a strength of over 50,000 soldiers, cannot fight Russia and take over the country.
What Makes the Wagner Group So Enraged with Russia?
The Wagner group has been fighting all the battles for Russia in various countries. However, in the ongoing war against Ukraine, Yevgeny Prigozhin has accused the Russian military of not providing sufficient ammunition to face its enemies.
According to him, the lack of weapons is making him lose his soldiers in the war. He is calling this negligence an orchestrated act against his group.
Yevgeny Prigozhin has declared war against the Russian government and threatened to remove Russia’s defense minister. However, the country has called for his arrest.
Now, Russia, which is already at war with Ukraine, will have to resolve the internal disturbance simultaneously.
