In the happening world of hip-hop, many artists rise and fall overnight. One such artist who captured the attention of fans and critics alike is Pooh Shiesty. The star is well known for his gritty lyrics and distinctive flow in the rapping industry.
Fame is easy to attain with talent but difficult to maintain due to habits and problematic behaviors, and the same happened with Pooh. The spotlight on Pooh Shiesty has shifted from his musical talents to a different narrative – his legal troubles.
On 20 April 2022, Pooh Shiesty was arrested and imprisoned for 63 months (5 years and 3 months). Shiesty will be released on 20 July 2027. The rapper was arrested for his involvement in the gun conspiracy that happened in the Bay Harbor Islands in 2020. However, the court added that he could be released early by 3 years on account of his behavior during imprisonment, but with few rules to follow.
A Look into the Star’s Life
Born on November 8, 1999, Lontrell Donell Williams, Jr., aka Pooh Shiesty, is an American rapper who rose to fame in 2020. The rapper is signed to Gucci Mane’s 1017 Records as well as Atlantic Records. Shiesty released his first single song, “Back in Blood” in 2020 while featuring Lil Durk in it.
Pooh then released his debut album on February 5, 2021, with the name “Shiesty Season”. The album peaked at number 3 on the U.S. Billboard 200. He further worked with other artists who were signed under the same level.
Shiesty’s stage name has a very significant story behind it. His late brother gave him the pet name “Mr.Pooh,” to which he added Shiesty to represent his lifestyle.
The Legal Pause in the Career
The fans were waiting for the rapper to make a brand new comeback, but things wrapped up for the worse. In April 2022, Pooh Shiesty was sent to jail to complete his sentence of 63 months, which is 5 years and 3 months.
The release date for the rapper is set for 20 July 2027, according to the legal hearing. The sentence was announced by Judge Kevin Michael Moore in the Miami Federal Court, U.S. District. He was charged for his role in the gun conspiracy that happened in the year 2020.
The conspiracy happened in Florida’s Bay Harbor Islands around October 2020. It was claimed that guns were fired on a group of people who were dealing with pot and sneakers. Police found Shiesty guilty of shooting four times, but in later proceedings, three charges were dropped. During the incident, a man named Brandon Cooper was shot and injured.
Shiesty’s lawyer came forward and said, “Listen, nobody’s happy to go to prison, but he was happy the judge listened to our argument, and the judge received the argument well. He was satisfied with the outcome. We’re happy with the decision of the court.” He also added that Shiesty could be relieved early in 3 years based on his behavior during his sentence, which thrilled the fans and supporters of Pooh Shiesty.
It was also revealed that Pooh might have to pay $1,149,828.43 to the family of the victims as prosecutors asked for the amount as compensation. In response, Cohen argued that the amount is unreasonable. He added that the people who are receiving compensation were found selling drugs to Pooh, which is illegal.
People over the internet are in a frenzy state, and few want Shiesty to be released earlier, while few aren’t in support of the rapper’s doing and don’t even know who he is.
