On October 17, 2023, the ACA Collegiate Bass organization tweeted a shocking post on X (formerly known as Twitter). The institution informed that Travis Ely and Hunter Heckman were pronounced dead after encountering a severe car crash. The police informed that the accident happened around 2:45 a.m. in the 8700 block of South Meridian Street on October 15, 2023. A pickup truck traveling on Meridian Street clipped a pole on the side of the road, eventually causing the crash.

The world is already mourning for Israel and Hamas attacks. Many are losing their lives without any reason, including Shani Louk. Everything was fine until the 14th of October for the families of Travis Ely and Hunter Heckman. The young boys were preparing to return to their respective families.
However, events turned out for the worse, leaving nothing but cries and mourns. After attending the 2023 AFTCO Collegiate Bass Open Tournament of fishing competition, the boys met with an unfortunate accident on October 15, 2023.
The police reported that the accident happened near the north of County Line Road. The further clarified locals reported that it happened around 2:45 a.m. in the 8700 block of South Meridian Street.
The local police informed 13News that a pickup truck was traveling on Meridian Street when it clipped a pole on the side of the road. A loud thud made the neighbors call 911, and when police reached, the duo was pronounced dead at the sight. However, the driver of the car was transferred to hospital with severe injuries.
Following the events, the ACA Collegiate Bass organization released an official statement informing about the loss. The institute tweeted about the death of Travis Ely and Hunter Heckman on the official X (formerly known as Twitter).
Travis Ely was a junior at Purdue University and was an Indiana resident. Another loss from Indiana society after the art teacher Amanda Webster. He graduated from Brown County High School in 2021. The boy had a keen interest in fishing from a young age.
The family said,
“Our hearts are shattered at the loss of our brother, son, and friend. He had a kind soul, loved God, and was a friend to everyone he met. We want to thank everyone for the outpouring of love and support. We ask that you keep his brothers and sisters on the Purdue Bass Team and the greater collegiate fishing series in your thoughts and prayers.”
Whereas Hunter was a member of the Purdue University Bass Fishing team from West Lafayette. The accident had left the whole of Purdue University and the community in deep shock. People are joining their hands to support the families of both young guys. A friend of Travis’s shared a thankful post on his Facebook, saying,
“Thank you for being an amazing friend for over 10 years, thank you for all the things we’ve been through and you have helped me through. I love you brother and I’m proud of all the things you’ve accomplished. Rest easy Trav.”
