As a two-time Emmy award winner, she has earned recognition for her contributions to the field. However, it’s her remarkable journey as a cancer survivor that truly showcases her unyielding tenacity.

Michelle’s battle with cancer involved grueling medical procedures, including surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation.

In a report published by KIRO 7 on October 09, 2014, Michelle openly shared her challenging experience of fighting cancer.

She recalled the disbelief that washed over her following her 2009 cancer diagnosis, saying:

“I went to appointment after appointment, finding myself in disbelief. It all became incredibly real after the biopsies, CT Scan, lumpectomy, and ultimately, a mastectomy.”

The psychological toll of her journey was no less significant.

Michelle embarked on an emotional rollercoaster of dread, worry, positivity, and resolution. However, she drew strength from her incredible support system, primarily her family and close friends.

“I came out stronger and with an incredible desire to tell other women who hear the words’ you have breast cancer’ that they will come out on the other side, too! I tell them we are more than just boobs and hair.”

Her story serves as a testament to the power of resilience, love, and strength found in the community, even in the face of life’s most daunting challenges.
