Casey Anthony shocked the nation when she was accused of murdering her 3-year-old daughter, Caylee.
More than a decade after she was found not guilty, docuseries like Casey Anthony’s Parents: The Lie Detector Test are getting released.
Now, viewers will get to know what happened in the case. But what is Casey up to now?
Casey Anthony, born March 19, 1986, gained notoriety as the mother of Caylee Anthony, who was reported missing on July 15, 2008. Her 2011 trial resulted in her acquittal on major charges. Anthony accused her father, George Anthony, of sexual abuse. Casey Anthony currently works as a legal assistant for Patrick McKenna. In 2020, she created her private investigative firm, Case Research & Consulting Services LLC. She got her residence in 2022.
What Is the Case of Casey Anthony?
Casey Anthony became widely known as the mother of Caylee Anthony, a two-year-old who was reported missing on July 15, 2008, by her grandparents, George and Cindy Anthony.
Casey initially told the police that her daughter had been kidnapped by a nanny called Zenaida ‘Zanny’ Fernandez-Gonzalez.
Tragically, Caylee’s remains were discovered on December 11, 2008, near the Anthony family’s home, leading to Casey’s arrest and charges of first-degree murder.
However, the investigation revealed inconsistencies in Casey’s story, as the address she provided for the nanny had not been occupied for 140 days.
Following the trial, a civil lawsuit for defamation was filed against Casey by a ‘Zenaida Gonzalez’ from Kissimmee, Florida, who denied any connection to Casey or Caylee.
The judge dismissed the lawsuit, citing that Casey’s statements were not willful or malicious.
In 2011, Casey Anthony faced a high-profile trial that ended with her being acquitted of aggravated child abuse, first-degree murder, and manslaughter of a child charges but found guilty of providing false information to law enforcement.
She was sentenced to one year in prison for each count but was released on July 17, 2011, with credit for time served since her 2008 incarceration.
Additionally, Casey accused her father, George Anthony, of sexual abuse and involvement in concealing Caylee’s fate.
These allegations resurfaced in a 2022 docuseries, “Casey Anthony: Where the Truth Lies,” where she also claimed George staged the crime scene.
As of 2018, Casey continues to have no communication with her parents, George and Cindy Anthony, who remain together in Florida.
In a clip from the upcoming special, “Casey Anthony’s Parents: The Lie Detector Test,” George and Cindy Anthony participate in polygraph tests to challenge their daughter’s accusations against them.
Seated together in their living room during the interview with the A&E host, tension becomes palpable as Cindy voices her concerns. She discusses the potential significance of their actions on their lives, expressing the gravity of the situation.
Where Is Casey Anthony Now in 2024?
Casey Anthony, born on March 19, 1986, currently serves as a legal assistant for Patrick McKenna.
In 2020, she took steps to establish her private investigative firm, Case Research & Consulting Services LLC, after experiencing online harassment during her attempt to work as a photographer.
While her life remains relatively small in scale, she maintains close connections with a few trusted individuals, including her former defense team, according to Alexandra Dean, the showrunner for “Where the Truth Lies.”
Dean mentioned that Casey maintains contact with her mother and brother, albeit infrequently, characterizing their relationship as not particularly close but still communicative.
However, Casey has no communication with her father, George Anthony, whom she accused of sexually abusing her during her youth, a painful experience she believes might have also affected her daughter, Caylee.
Casey resided with Patrick McKenna until 2022 when she acquired her residence.
Today, she presents a more refined image than the party girl persona she portrayed during her trial.
Her long, straight hair retains its length with a richer color tone. Freed from incarceration, she can wear makeup and maintain a generally well-groomed appearance.
“Casey Anthony’s Parents: The Lie Detector Test” is set to premiere on Thursday, January 4, at 9 p.m. ET on A&E and Lifetime.
