What Happened at Aerovia Guayaquil?
A video of a couple acting inappropriately (sexual intercourse) inside one of the Aerova transport system’s cabins in Guayaquil went viral on social media in June 2023. Despite several warnings, the couple seemed to be adamant about hanging their behavior and continued with their indecent act.
Despite the warnings, the two persisted in their behavior in front of a crowd, scandalizing the internet. For info, the Cable Car is made in a way making it possible for it to commute at least 40,000 people between the two locations every day.
The Company has released a statement and clarified that it had no involvement in the circulation of the video that went viral after the incident involving two individuals on the Cable Car. It’s important to note that the Company is not responsible for the actions of individuals and their behavior in public spaces.
The Cable Car remains a reliable and safe mode of transportation for the thousands of commuters who rely on it daily.
Despite the regulations in place, the couple displayed a persistent demeanor and continued their interaction in the presence of fellow commuters.
Towards the conclusion of the recording, they briefly acknowledged the presence of the cable car’s security camera through eye contact.

What Is Aerovia Guayaquil?
Between Guayaquil and Durán, Aerova is a multimodal mass transit system that promotes sustainability and urban integration. It has five stops, with one technical stop that doesn’t take passengers.
The system features 154 cabins, each capable of carrying up to 10 passengers. During the Covid-19 pandemic, a maximum of five passengers are allowed to ride in each cabin. In Durán, users have free access to two cooperatives’ urban buses that transport them to the most densely populated areas of the next canton.
In order to ride the Aerova, passengers need to purchase a $2 tarjeta, which they can load with money to pay for their fare. The cost per one-way ride is $0.70, or $0.35 for those eligible for a discounted rate.
Discounts are offered to seniors, children, teenagers, students, and people with disabilities. The Aerova operates from 5:30 AM to 9:30 PM, except during emergencies when business hours may be shortened. It takes 17 minutes to travel between terminal stations.
It’s important for individuals to respect public spaces and follow guidelines to ensure the safety of themselves and others. It’s good to know that the security team was actively enforcing the rules and regulations in place to prevent incidents like this from occurring in the future.
This type of behavior not only violates the rules and regulations in place for public spaces but it also puts the safety of all commuters at risk. Do you think strict measures should be brought up for such incidents?
