Amid the missing news of the five passengers who were onboard a submarine that dived the Titanic’s wreck, experts working on the search operation have now expressed their fear that the missing Titanic submersible must have imploded into pieces in the sea.
With that news hitting the headlines, it has added all the more to the curiosity of the people, who initially thought that the submarine was only missing and would return sooner or later.
It all started after the senior adviser with RMS Titanic inc, Dr. David Gallo, first suggested that the missing craft might have imploded into pieces, as against the initial claims that stated that something must have caused mid-water that must have caused the submarine to lose signal or radio communications.
As the search operations are underway, most people and agencies associated with the search operation are positive about locating the missing submarine, except for Gallo, who believes that there is “no coming back” now for the five tourist passengers of the expedition and that something terrible must have indeed happened, for the submarine to disappear that quickly.
What Does an Imploded Titanic Submarine Mean?
Implosion, in simple words, means that the missing submarine named Titan must have sustained some minor crack or fault in its carbon fiber, resulting in damage to the titanium hull.
While it is not uncommon for the submarine, which travels at a speed of 3 knots (3.5km) per hour, to get imploded after all that water weight being exerted on the 22 feet long vessel.
While it is a no-brainer that Titan, which was on a mission to explore the wrecks on the Titanic, had to dive in as deep as 10,000 feet deep, one can only imagine the amount of pressure the seawater must have created on it.
Not only was the expedition terrifying as it may sound, but many have also pointed out that the submarine Titan was only made a few years back, and letting five tourists get into it to explore the depths of the sea itself sounds like a complete recipe for disaster.
Once it imploded, Gallo stated that it became extremely difficult to recover the lost pieces of the vessel, meaning that the return of the five tourist passengers was nearly impossible.
“It will be a mixture of all those things if that’s the way (implosion) – so there may be no large piece of the sub to recover and there may be no large bits to see from the air.”

What Happened to the Missing Titanic Sub Passengers?
With the news of the implosion, and experts suggesting that it would be a daunting task to recover all five passengers safely, it raised a straightforward question, “what will be the fate of the sub-passengers?” While it is difficult to predict anything as the investigation is underway, there are some basic assumptions one can make.
While the passengers of the missing submarine were no amateurs when it came to expeditions and exploring the sea, Gallo said that one could expect things to go all wrong in such missions, and the odds of recovery were also scanty. If the implosion theory was to be true, as Gallo suggested, even collecting the submarine pieces would be impossible.
Among the confirmed passengers were British businessman Hamish Harding; Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood and his teenage son, Suleman; and French explorer Paul-Henri Nargeolet and Stockton Rush, the CEO of OceanGate, the company that operates the vessel.
While further investigation can only predict the fate of the submarine and the missing passengers, one can only hope for the best to happen in the time being.
